Re: Unofficially Official What are you Playing

just having the most basic proficiency to cast soul arrow should be enough to handle him, even if you're a melee character. Just did it that way on my dex build not long ago.

      That damned boss. UGH.

Edit: AND I've made it to the next island, fought the next boss, and am getting ready to unlock my next suite of abilities in Second Son. The game's story is pretty clunky, but there are some nuggets of genuine good going on that help matters.

Re: Unofficially Official What are you Playing

Been playing GTA IV again, it's been like five years since I last played it. Surprisingly , I'm enjoying it a lot. Over the years the internet convinced me that the game was rather blah, and not worthy of all the accolades it received at launch, which seems to be kinda typical: Everyone gets caught up in the hype of a game at first and as time passes people reflect on the game with less fondness.

I'm enjoying the story so far, and the characters are pretty well written. Roman is hilarious and Niko being pulled into the criminal underworld as he tries to secure a better life for himself and his cousin is legitimately interesting. The game feels very GTA III-ish to me, which I really dig, and not just because Liberty City is the featured location. Speaking of Liberty City, Rockstar did a great job at replicating New York City. It feels like its own character, and is pretty atmospheric even today. It's not all good though, the driving is very slippery and I'm always crashing into something when I didn't intend to. This can get very annoying when you're trying to chase a guy down, which has been like 70% of this game's missions, aha.

Nope, unfortunately. I only dabbled in the first one and Agarest War Zero.

As for Duel and Demon's Souls, wait until you get to the Maneaters~

And you know that you do not have to take the "worlds" in order, right? I did the majority of "world" 2 after I did nearly the entirety of Tower of Latria ("world" 3). It's much more interesting.

I just began playing Demon Gaze on the Vita yesterday. Just what I needed...another dungeon crawl ala Etrian Odyssey that I will never finish. Heh.

Yeah I've been farming for Souls in the fourth world. It's funny, I kept getting killed in the swamp of 3-2 so I went to World 2 instead and constant deaths to the flamelurker forced me to explore world 4.

That's one of the things I really liked about Demon's Souls vs. Dark Souls: you actually have a real option to go somewhere else and try something different if you hit a wall.

So I unlocked all the characters and have gotten most of the medals in Mario Golf. Now I guess it's just good for the tournaments. It's just not as fun without being able to compare scores with people on my friends list, instead I get to compete with the criminally insane that get scores I don't even think are possible...

                  **** YOU NINTENDO.

...sorry, I just thought Nintendo would get their **** together, considering they did similar for other games.

Just beat Infamous: Second Son - I went full Infamous and I felt terrible about it every time I had to make a "good or evil" choice. Reason I went bad was cause I'd seen the ending for good when my friend beat it on his PS4 the weekend it came out.

Dunno what to start next: Dead Rising 3, Killzone: Shadow Fall, or Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag.

You could wait another two weeks and then start Watchdogs.

Re: Unofficially Official What are you Playing

I've been playing Red Faction Guerrilla lately, since my Roman Restoration game in CKII has gotten a bit boring.

The PC port (picked it up on Steam during a sale) isn't perfect, there are occasional graphical issues (my head will momentarily vanish, or everything except the tires on my vehicle will blink out), but nothing major. The only big problem I've head is that the procedural destruction engine will not work for objects a certain distance away, and in my opinion its not far enough.

That said, I'm really enjoying the game. The levels are vast and the game has a strong free-roam aspect. Blowing stuff up is so very satisfying. My favorite thing to destroy are towers. Knocking out supports and watching it topple over is so much fun. If I can manage to have it fall on another building, I get downright giddy.

A perfectly valid strategy is to attach 3-8 remotely detonated bombs to a heavy vehicle and ram a building with it. You hop out and get for cover and blow it. Awesome.

Finally, the game makes your weapon load out a meaningful choice. With only 3 slots available, its important that you scope out more difficult targets ahead of time and formulate a strategy for your attack and how you will extricate yourself. Each weapon is good at only one or two things (with the exception of the Nano Rifle, but that has quite limited ammo), so you really need to think about it if you don't want to die a lot.

What's your soul level? That seems a little too spread-out.

I think if you take out a calculator and add those numbers up, that would give you his soul level!
