    Community News - 8/6/2010

I should hopefully have contest results posted by Monday. That's really all I have to say before we get to the lists. So...

Sorry, internet went out. Saw connection going bad, so I posted the "building topic" thing as a placeholder.

For anyone interested, I plan on releasing the contest version of my game to the public as soon as results are posted. One exception would be if Valk found some game-ruining bugs in his playthrough, in that case I'll make sure things are fixed before release.

With that said, what I release will be just about the same as the private version Valk played, which is missing some things I wanted to add before a public release. I was hoping to finish things in the time between my entry to Valk and the results, but I just haven't been able to. I'll go into more details in the game topic when the release comes.

Hi, I accidentally deleted the contest reviews while pruning old files today.

I still got my score sheets though!

But I gotta write new reviews.

Pretty soon the contest reviews are gonna have as many extensions as the contest games.

I can only assume that this includes their back-ups in the Recycling Bin.

everything I delete skips the recycling bin. because I only delete stuff I'm sure I want to delete.

                  *punches self*

it would help if I named text files stuff other than "thing", "this" "what" "object", and so on.

This isnt the first time this has happened, either.

My buddy names his files and folders stuff like, "Gakkelspidiferflapbungergut."

But then again, he has so many files with long nonsense names that it becomes the same kind of problem you described, only with longer, more nonsensical words.

I do it to unfortunately lol.
I have lost so many files due to my stupidity.
I make up names for files at random and also have a bad habit of shift deleting which doesn't help lol.

                        I'm like, the exact opposite.

I name all my stuff with my name, date, filename, etc.

Unless it's just junk I don't care about.

Then it's just a short 4 letter description of what the file contains.
