Just a little update, that doesnt warrant it's own news post.

I know I'm quite behind on community news. the post wasnt made on friday, and still hasnt been made.

I'm having a lot of anxiety, and even a bit of depression over the massive pile of hospital bills that keep pouring in, while I wait to hear back from some places about financial assistance. This is constantly stuck in my head, and it's really hard to focus on anything not directly related to the hospital bills.

I'll do a community news post when I can. I can't nail down a date, because every time I sit down to do it, the anxiety hits me, which is why I havent been at the pav, or on AIM much at all since I got out of the hospital. I just need a break.

Ouch, that's terrible. You get out of the hospital and now it pushes itself all over your mind.

I don't really know much about financial help for health bills as my dad always had insurance for the family (and now I have insurance of my own). But I do know that at least some hospitals are able to hook you up with packages (rarely on their dime but sometimes with one of their partners) if you ask for help. Do they have a financial department that can refer you to someone?

Also, is there any chance the current contest will get a final extension? Several people are cramming to try to get their games in at the wire, and despite my cramming I will probably end up a few days late too.

It's very possible there will be yet another extension. I'm in no mood to play any games right now. Well, I am right now, but my mood keeps changing, and I'm pretty sure I couldnt judge the games fairly as I am right now.

Id imagine those hospital bills are pretty steep...Im not sure what its like there, but as long as you make some effort to pay on them($100/month), they cant really do anything to ya.

Take the time you need and sit back and relax, we're not going anywhere.

I think both contests sound like great ideas. I finally got a new PS3 a month or so ago and have put a decent dent in my backlog of games so now sounds like a good time to pick up the old RPG Maker again.

I think it was announced a little while ago that we'd try to have a Contest every six months?

I kind of like the precedent of having one or two novelty/short game contests each year, and one Anything Goes contest. Perhaps the Anything Goes could always be open for entry (for whichever year you're in), and be judged at the end of each year?

I intend to have an "anything goes" contest in the last half of each year. Gives people incentive to keep working on their existing games.

the contest in the first half of the year will always be something different. I intend to have smaller category contests (like this speedy RPG theme) go alongside the main ones too.

that way there's always something going on, and people who don't have a ton of time to invest in the major contest of each half of the year can still enter in a different kind of contest that doesnt require as much work.

of course, I'm still ironing things out in my head, and stuff is subject to change. but as of right now, this is how I intend to have it be. for now.

Yeah, I think that's an awesome idea. I kind of figured this might be the plan based off of how the current contests are scheduled, and said to myself how brilliant that setup was.

The reason I suggested chaining the Anything Goes contest throughout the whole year was so people don't delay in posting a project that they finish in April because they know that the Anything Goes Contest is coming up in July.

Also, just an idea, in the future it might be a good idea to have the deadline for Anything Goes be in November or the beginning of December, so people can play the newly submitted games over the holiday breaks.

Yeah, that's when it ends. November 3rd. I changed it so it's not every six months, but rather the first five months of the year, and the second five months of the year. the final two months are off for everyone's benefit.
