    XP or VX?

Okay, I'm sure you've been asked this question over hundred times, but for some reason I can never use a forum search engine properly. I can't find any "VX vs XP" topics, so I'll just post my own.

I'm sure a lot of it may involve personal taste, but I'd like to know which one is better and why. Can anyone tell me what VX has that XP doesn't, besides being 30$ more?

VX is really not that different, go with the cheaper version.

Your best bet is to do some Google searches. You actually won't find that much on these forums, because we tend to lean toward the Console RPG Makers.

I just bought XP and I've never used VX. But when I was looking for the differences between the two, I remember coming upon things like default character views (superdeformed in VX, taller in XP), scripting (somewhat easier in VX, slightly more flexible in XP), and tilesets (limited to four extras in VX, unlimited custom sets in XP, which is a big thing to me). XP, being the more popular one, also has more custom scripts out there. Since they come with a tool to share games with others who don't have VX or XP installed, you can play anyone's game no matter which one you buy.

So yeah, take a look around the web and see which one sounds better for you, because while XP is probably the better choice for most, they'd both be defensible purchases.

Well if your starting out rpg making. VX is actually a better choice since there are several features from older PC RPG makers put back in there. Especially useful if your planning to make the worldmap.

XP however is quite a bit more advanced since there are already tons of custom scripts. Plus it's a lot cheaper now. $30 compared to $60 bucks from before.
