Before I take the leap I would like to know a few things. Can I use graphics that were not made in XP, am I limited to only the music in game, how long is the trial again, how much is it, and where do I download it?

Re: I'm thinking about getting RPGM XP.
You can make your own graphics. I have been. I've just been using MS paint. you can also download graphics from tons of sites. the graphics, as long as they're laid out in the correct type of sprite sheets, can be as large as you want. an example: see the cluster of three characters in my sig image? that's actually one big sprite, on a sheet of other big "group shot sprites" that I imported into RPG Maker XP.
for sprite making, you can also use this neat tool: http://www.geocities.jp/kurororo4/looseleaf/ you can make character sprites there out of tons of parts, print screen, crop the image, and then they're ready for importing into XP.
you can use whatever music you want. Just be considerate of the file size of your finished game, and the people who would have to download it.

Re: I'm thinking about getting RPGM XP.
I appearantly ****ed myself over real well. I installed the RPGM XP, but not that RGSS thing and now I can't do anything. I didn't think I needed to because it was part of the maker anyway. WRONG! Now the only way to fix it is to uninstall it which you can't do. ****!Last edited by Jamos; 12-10-2009, 01:38 AM.PSN: KingJamos

Re: I'm thinking about getting RPGM XP.
A couple more questions. For whatever reason, some of my imported sprites will only show a small portion of the image. Like a mirror I made will only have a corner of the whole thing shown in game. How do I fix this problem? Another one involves the combat system. I was wanting to make a skill that recharges a small portion of your SP. Couldn't find a way to do it so I was wondering if you guys could help. It is kind of an important feature for this game. Without that skill I would be forced to make an item for that and give the party an insane number of it.Last edited by Jamos; 12-20-2009, 02:09 AM.PSN: KingJamos

Re: I'm thinking about getting RPGM XP.
you didnt map your sprites correctly.
the software splits images up into different segments for different frames.
http://tkool.jp/products/rpgxp/eng/material.html you can see an example there.

Re: I'm thinking about getting RPGM XP.
I keep wondering if I should get XP so I can fart around with it making stupid games.
I was pretty wicked with the "other" RPG Maker back in the day.Last edited by Wavelength; 12-20-2009, 12:42 PM. Reason: Careful: any discussion of that is against the rules.
