      Re: OH MAN

I've had a huge "giant robot" itch lately, to the point that I've even been playing some Exteel.

I want me some Armored Core 5.

        Re: OH MAN

I tried the demo of the last one. It was everything that made the prior ones less than fun, just with better graphics.

Designing your killer robot is a joy. Actually playing missions feels like hell.

It's still an alright game though.

            Look, a thing:

According to Kotaku, Famitsu says AC5's emphasis is gonna be on chaos in the battlefield, the missions will be more dramatic and the ACs will be smaller again; smaller than ever, apparently, at only 5 meters (how big were the NEXTs again?).

Now we wait for the trailer.

The added stage complexity is not just for good looks, as it will contribute to strategy as well. You'll have to make use of the stage make up and height differences to strategically attack your opponent. Nabeshima suggested, for instance, hiding in the shadows of a building to wait for a chance to unleash an attack.

The added stage detail is one of the reasons that that the scale of the AC units is changing. Past AC games had mechs of about 10 meters height. For AC5, the mechs will be around 5 meters. If they were to have used the larger mechs, explained Nabeshima, the high view perspective would have kept players from noticing any of the details in the stages.

The presence of smaller AC units will also contribute to the strategy. You'll find enemy units sneaking off into back roads, or avoiding attack by ducking beneath an overpass.
The game's mission system is seeing some changes as well. The big change is that missions will have multiple objectives. In past AC games, once you cleared the objective that was given to you at the start of the mission, you cleared the mission. For AC5, your objective will be renewed as you progress through the mission. Nabeshima believes that this will make for more dramatic developments as the mission circumstances constantly change.
I think I see some giant red hot burning chainsaws. Neat.

"Aubade Weapon" and, see the AC5 』a new element is the generic name and visual symbol of the game. オーバード・ウェポンの破壊力は凄まじく、たった一撃で戦況を大きく変える可能性を秘めているという。 Aubade凄Majiku Weapon destructive power is, that the potential to revolutionize the battlefield by only a single blow. 具体的なことは、まだ一切公開されていないが、新要素が加わることによって従来の戦闘スタイルが大きく進化し、戦闘での駆け引きもガラリと変化することは間違いない。 The specifics, but any that are not public yet, the traditional fighting style evolved significantly by the addition of new elements, you can also change tactics in the battle rattle, apparently.
Autoblades huh? Does that mean we will be getting about 1000 of these guys playing the game now?

Maybe, but I'm going to be using 2 giant red glowing chainsaw of DOOM shoulder weapons for sure.

It totally looks like they borrowed the huge backpack weapon pod things from their other game they made, Metal Wolf Chaos.

Better version of that original trailer is out now. I like the whole transforming part thing. I remember AC4s trailer having transforming parts, but that didnt even make it into the game.

Also that head looks like it has teeth. Cool.

I'm getting pretty excited for this game. Hopefully I'll get to play a demo or something and decide whether or not I like the control scheme as the controls of AC3 really turned me off. I really could not enjoy playing Armored Core simply because the controls felt too dern clunky.

From the number of tweets we’ve been getting, it seems only fair to answer some of your questions. The recurring questions we’ve got regard the absence of Armored Core 5, Bumpy Trot 2 and Macross Trial Frontier. In the case of the latter, there is a looping movie being shown at the Bandai Namco stall but despite the game being finished there’s nothing playable at the show (though the game footage does look lovely and it’s pretty clear that the game is indeed very similar to Artdink’s recent PSP games). In addition, Irem have quite a nice presence this year but when we quizzed them about Bumpy Trot 2 they simply had a “no comment”. As for Armored Core 5? Absolutely nothing, not even a video preview and due to From Software not having a presence at the show we’ve been unable to quiz anyone about it.

Considering that Front Mission Evolved is playable in about three separate booths this year (despite being available in the shops already in Japan) it may be that From Software decided to wait this one out, as Armored Core 5 is potentially quite similar in approach. In any case, it’s not as though From Software needed to be worried as after playing Front Mission Evolved quite a bit its is really quite painfully average.

Series peaked with Master of Arena and has been downhill ever since.

For answer was pretty good actually, and I'm said to see no news of this series. =\

Wasn't the original concept for an AC to be roughly larger then a car in size, I remember some original art that placed the human taking up the entire torso.

NEXTs were the size of 6 story buildings.

Edit: Also sad to hear Front Mission is average, I was really hoping it'd be a good game. I have no giant robot games to play :<

Yeah, originally ACs werent that big at all. the cars in the PS1 games were pretty damn big by comparison.

then the PS2 games happened, and they don't have a consistent scale across levels.
