Re: Unofficially Official What are you Playing

I tried doing what the game tells you about the big pieces first and would've never ever figured it out without looking it up online.

Even looking up the solution to the wire-connecting puzzle in the control room doesn't explain the logic they used to get there.

The rec room, control room, (and power room) actually took me the longest to complete, so maybe you managed to pick the hardest ones first? Overall I thought the puzzle elements were less strenuous than in VLR, but there are some pretty ambiguous ones where it's hard to tell what clues in the room go to what puzzle. I tried solving the wire-connecting puzzle for quite some time, thinking that I already had all the clues I needed, and got it through trial and error before discovering one last essential clue that basically draws the solution for you.

Anyway, I picked up a cute game that demands much less thinking, called Gotta Protectors for 3DS after I saw someone talking about in on Kefka's fb. It's a strangely addicting mix of Gauntlet with light strategy and tower defense elements and 8-bit graphics and sound. Normally I'm prone to rolling my eyes at consciously 8-bit nostalgia but here it's so well done that it earns it, and the story segments are surprisingly funny.

Ah good. The game has done it's job. You should totally give up on it and give it to me.

I'm now doing the transporter room in ZTD and I hear there's a puzzle in this one that uses base-14 math? Sounds awful. 8)

BTW Q team's puzzles were all really easy for me for some reason. The rotating room was my favorite so far.

It's a confusing puzzle because it makes you think you need to know base 13 math, but you don't actually need to know it to solve the puzzle.

And yeah, some puzzle rooms are a lot easier than others!

All my gaming stuff is in storage, but I heard Titanfall 2 sucks. If so, that's really sad. I thought it could be the game of the generation.

                  Anyone play Grand Kingdom?

It reminds me of Unlimited Saga, which I hated so much I returned it at Blockbuster for a new game. But... I love this game.

Has my taste changed!? Should I give Unlimited Saga a genuine chance!?

                    Prize goes to Overwatch instead?

Is anybody familiar with SteamCrate? It's 10 mystery steam games a month. I saw a discount ad on Kotaku so I signed up for 3 months. It's only $28. If I get even 1 decent game it'll be worth it. The games come on the 16th so I've got a few weeks to anticipate.

Pseudo roommate and I started playing Salt & Sanctuary, aka 2D Dark Souls. It's almost insulting how much it has cribbed the gameplay and leveling mechanics of Dark Souls, but it's a lot of fun and the multiplayer is SO MUCH EASIER to initiate and keep going.

It's definitely not as hard as Dark Souls, though.

Definitely GOTY at least so far.

I was pretty underwhelmed by Uncharted 4. Just felt like more of the same. Hope to get around to Doom at some point.

Uncharted 4 was basically what Uncharted 3 should have been in terms of the systems being tweaked and improved upon and it really had a story to tell instead of just being Indiana Jones for the modern age. Not GOTY but maybe the best version of the franchise? 2 still had the best set-pieces, though.

I'm still bumping around in ZTD trying to find the path to the nodes I haven't unlocked yet.
