Re: Unofficially Official What are you Playing

I recently made it into chapter 2 in The Witcher 1 and I noticed a sudden change in the writing. It's more whimsical and humorous now.

I made it to chapter 2 of The Witcher (1) and....stopped for some reason.

I dunno why, was playing other things? Same thing happened to me with Dark Souls.

        Fire Emblem: Awakening.

I decided to go as the Female Avatar because going Male is too generic of me.

I just recently finished up Chapter 11 (or 12, I forgot), and all I can say is:

Lon'qu: Crits are love; crits are life
        Who the hell is Kellam?
I started shipping Chrom x Sumia from the very beginning
        Sully is badass
        Frederick has never been used

I have been struggling with Dragon Age Inquisition, from the beginning until now, and I am roughly 75% through. I want to like the game, but I just can't seem to get into it. Love the music, and graphically it is pleasing, but the characters just seem to lack the same depth I enjoyed in the very first Dragon Age. Hate the item management system, and skill acquisition and allotment is clunky as all get out. The story seems so incredibly convoluted and bloated that I am having difficulty caring about anything I am supposedly fighting for. Am I the only one that struggles with this game?

No, I took off work to play it (and my boss lol'ed at me) right when it came out and to me its about a 8/10. This is not the masterpiece you're looking for. I lost interest in completing the areas pretty quickly as I was massively overeleveled and everything was trivial.. (no scaling, its easy to walk into an area and roll it...no fun) Doesn't help the main antagonist is from a DLC for Dragon Age 2. Crafting kills any gear you get organically since its way better if you play around with it.

Hoping the expansion is better. The ending leaves open some absolutely cool things that can happen but the question is--will it? If you're in your 20s I would suggest just beating the main story instead of doing anything else.

Playing through my backlog, went with Final Fantasy 3--damn that grind right after you get the last crystal is so stupid. Wish they would have done a balance pass on that ****. Bahamut's Lair = 3000HP monsters w/ 5700 XP vs. Monsters in the final area with 11000HP w/ 3000 XP. GOOD BALANCE. I hit 60 so I'm going to finish it tomorrow and uninstall. GG.

I launched up FFX again over the weekend and progressed to the point where we're on the airship headed for Bevelle. I forgot how silly the story progression is at this point.

I booted up the HD remaster on the Vita and died in one of the first battles because I was like, "Surely they won't allow you to die in this battle."

Unskippable cutscenes can die in a fire

Ahaha, yeah. I did the Home segment three times because I kept missing ****, and by the time I got through it the third time I wanted to burn the world down around me cause of having seen the same unskippable cutscenes three times.

Other than that, been playing The Vanishing of Ethan Carter and having some good times. I had to turn the FoV way the **** down because it was making me sick as hell.

Progressed to the Calm Lands in FFX. I have three swords with Tidus that all have Counterattack on them, but I have yet to get the same ability on a single other weapon for another person.

Also I haven't seen a single Rikku weapon that doesn't have a Distill Sphere ability on it, and I missed out on a couple boss items cause I Mug'd the boss and because it's an attack it applied the Distill debuff. Nothing that I can't get elsewhere I came to find out, but still a little annoying. It's not like her Mug ability is anything special at this stage of the game, anyway.

Not until she's pumping out a thousand damage while doing it.

The new sphere grid from International makes it so much easier to bounce around the Sphere Grid early on. And with just a little detouring along the path you get all kinds of little ancillary skills and spells for people that generally they would have no chance of getting until they could move to someone else's section of the grid. I dig it, and it's made having Kimahri be a Red Mage pretty damn useful.

Also Lulu has a Death ability on her weapon, so I pumped her Accuracy up by taking her a little ways down Tidus's path before going back to her black magic path and now she's a one-hit wonder in regular battles.

Makes playing the game feel fresh since I'm not forced down the same path for an extended portion of the game for every character.

The Vanishing of Ethan Carter is some M. Night Shyamalan-wannabe stuff.

This is probably what I am going to do. I have a weird thing about quitting an RPG once it is started, so I am going to grind through the main storyline and be done with it.

I played through the remastered version a little while back. I can honestly say that I think I have gotten those ultimate weapons for the very last time. The chocobo dodge, butterfly catching, and lightning dodge minigames were so frustrating, but rewarding once completed.
