That chart is off. Unless it's strictly US sales. In which case it's still wrong, cause the N64 was nearly 3 million, not around 2.5 million. And it sold more than Brawl has currently. Melee looks about right for US at least.

Yeah, took me a bit to realize you don't click to pick your character, you drag the little red P1 icon onto them.
