The coach must be new to little league or something. When I was in the Peanut league, every kid on the team was part of the batting order, it was the rule and we accepted it. We managed to live with the fact that the kid who sucked was going to get an at-bat. We let him have his turn, and then watch him sit on the bench until it was his turn again. We didn't jump him before the game.

So, going back to the topic, that's really sad. I mean, the kid was 8! Is it THAT important to be the best in the 8 year old league? I can understand why the coach did it. Not saying it was the right thing to do, just understand why he did it. I'm paradoxal that way.
And when I was four I played on a soccer team! I stunk! I just ran around the field pretending to fall over and over until the coach thought I was hurt and pulled me out of the game. But I still got a turn! No one threw a baseball at my groin before the game! Kids will suck! You have to accept these things in little league sports!
