    Re: I am Novak

My last name's St.Omer, and kids in elementry school used to call me St. Homer, because they thought it was funny or something. It wasnt all that amusing IMO.

People just called me Joe. Nobody is allowed to call me Joey, unless they're elderly. Or cute girls (which is awesome when they do~~)

I've never had a nickname, though through most of middle school I was often referred to by my last name because there were two Ryans in my class.

Somewhat on topic though, one of the oddest experiences of my life was the first time I heard someone actually say Ryner. I think it was Mora when I was chatting with him on XBL while he was playing KOTOR.

I've had many nicknames over the years, on this forum definitely, but off as well. The one that's stuck is Richard, even though my real name is Rickey and not Richard. So whatever.

                Re: I am Novak

I've had a quite a few nicknames that stuck in school, some good and some bad. High School buddies called me "Dally" after we had this English project on The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton. Didn't mind that much. Then you have the wise guys that like to tease me with "Dallas Diamond Page" or anything Dallas-sports-team related. Although I didn't mind getting called "Maverick" by some of my peers. Then people finally caught on in 10th grade (Wow...) that my first and last name rhyme. That got annoying...

I've never really had any nicknames. My name is Jeffery, but it gets misspelled Jeffrey alot.

I perfer to be called Jeff for some reason, and it actually annoys me when people call me Jeffery, so some of my friends do it to mess with me.

I usually get em back with some embarassing nickname too.

I adopted the nickname Bobby X in highschool because no one seemed to actually know (or perhaps care about) my last name. It stuck. Since then I've had many variants on the nickname such as Mr. X, X, and the X-Factor. I find it hilarious.

Anyway, they probably call you Novak because it sounds cool.

                            Re: I am Novak

Some people will call you Novak because it's impersonal, some will call you that because it's a more distinctive name than Eric/Erik, and some will call you that cause they think you prefer it that way or that's the way you were introduced to them. This is increasingly common in the business setting.

                            Get over it?
