    My History of Hospital Visits

Fourth Grade: I literally run off the boardwalk in New Jersey and break my leg.

Fifth Grade: I jump off my bed while wrestling a pillow and land awkwardly with my knee hitting my mouth. My lip gets torn open by a tooth, requiring many stitches.

Saturday: My big toe gets caught in the cuff of my pants while playing with the cat, bending it awkwardly. Today I went to the hospital and discovered it's actually broken.

Your legs are trying to kill you. Best have them off.
So you're a fish out of water...
    Keep swimming.
    What else can you do?

Your the kind of kid that fell off their bike like an idiot all the time and made every other kid be forced to wear a helmet. Thanks.

I had my appendix take out when I was 8.

I had a crappy razor sharp buckknife without a locking blade slam shut on my right middle finger when I was like 17. Sliced the entire top half of my finger wide open. Still got the scar and stitch marks.

Had a nice chuck sliced off the tip of my left thumb when I was chopping some vegetables at work. It grew back, but theres still a spot where theres no feeling in it and you cans ee the scar.

Ive gotten all kinds of cuts, burns and scratches at work, but nothign really major.

3-ish: Fell down the stairs at my uncle's house (concrete at the bottom)

4-8 (I can't remember): Sisters broke my finger using the safety bar from a State Fair ride

10-12: Pyrex bowl exploded (shattered) in my hands.

Various ages: Running feet into walls, hammers, chairs, etc. (Broken toes)

14-ish: Hit in the neck close range with a paintball - my right hand still twitches.

15: Fell down a flight of stairs, hit the back of my head / spine - got some pretty *****in' back spasms for about 6 months after that.

18: Rear-ended my mommy, totaled my car + whiplash.

Sophomore year - present: Slap lesion in my shoulder. (It's getting better!)

            Sivart: I'm a MAN.

Not a bone broken or dislocated. I was a pretty adventurous kid too. I got my share of cuts and bruises, but never had to go to the hospital. Even after my car accident.

The only time I broken anything bone like was my tooth. I was in a bowling league and was holding my ball to my chest waiting for kid in front to finish. he does then for whatever reason smacks the ball into my mouth destroying the front right incisor. I finished the 2 game I had left then got it fixed. The kid could not stop apologizing enough and sure enough quit the league. Which was cool with every body since we all hated him.

Find a dog, honk it's nose. If you are bothered by this sentence. I guess you're just not cool enough for the noses.

I initially misread that as "slap a lesbian".

                my version's better.

Sometime when I was really young.

Picked up a bowling ball and dropped it on my hand. Had to have reconstructive surgery done to my right ring finger because I smashed the thing so badly.

                  Kindergarten

Jumped off the bed and got a concussion.

                  2nd Grade.

Was in Disneyland with my Grandparents, got really really sick and I needed immediate treatment so I my Grandpa took me to the Hospital. I threw up on the doctor. Turned out to be a simple ear infection but it's not like there was a doctor on call at 9pm.

                  6th Grade

My appendix ruptured in my sleep and I had to get immediate surgery. I was out of school for a whole month because of that.

                  Last Winter

Had the flu so bad that I was up all night vomiting. It got to the point where it was so bad that I was dry heaving and got severely dehydrated. I had to drive myself to two different hospitals until I was finally treated. I threw up probably 10 times that night. Never before have I felt so miserable.

I just got surgery on my toe done, but it wasn't in a hospital.

I've never had to actually go to a hospital for anything other than visiting sick ass friends and family.

I'm sorry, but that sounds funny.

                      My turn!

                      Age 0: my birth

Age Two Months: had a seizure, taken to hospital.

Age 1: fell off second story balconey and landed in back yard. (Surprisingly okay.) My mom set me on the balconey railing, turned away for a second, and turned back to see that I was gone. She ran to the side screaming "Kera! Kera! Are you alright." I was just lying on the ground, wide eyed and confused, and not even crying.

Age 3: broke arm after falling off lawn chair.

Ages 5-7: knee specialist visits for low mucsle tone birth defect.

                      Age 6: X-rays for infections!

Age 15: broke arm. Working out in garden (by fire pit), tripped on a log, broke a peice of my elbow bone that went to the other side of my arm. (Doctor said it was a very difficult fracture to get, but I'm an over-achiever.)

Age 17: had a very nasty slip in the shower; dislocated my knee. (Damn kneecap popped outta it's socket, but I just popped it right back in before I went to get help).

                          Aren't we all?

I'm not sure about the exact dates, but I love sharing embarassing injury stories.

Summer of 1986 - I fell onto tile chin first, and nearly bit my own tongue in half. I needed emergency surgery and stitches.

Summer of 1988 - I fell out of a tree and split the inside of my lip open, needed stitches.

Summer of 1988/89 - A sibling slammed my hand in the sliding glass door. The ring finger on my left hand is broken.

Early 2004 - I had pretty bad pneumonia, coughed a hole through my right lung, and then finally collapsed after not being able to breathe much. I was in the hospital for nearly a week.

Various times, 1994 - 2008 - severe abdominal pain from an ongoing, unidentifiable medical condition (attributed to everything from food allergies to "chronic functional abdominal pain").

I've broken more bones and injured myself seriously in other ways, but these are the only times I've actually been taken to the emergency room.

I know the hospital all to well. As a kid I had several asthma attacks that led me to the ER. A lot of those. Then weekly shots to boost my immune system. Good times, good times.
