alright so a teenager who obviously has self-esteem issues and is obviously suffering from depression among other mental **** doesnt deserve sympathy?
what the ****.
not only that, but an adult instigates all of this **** and you arent at all outraged? really? a suicidal, depressed teenager dies because someone told them that the world would be better without them, that she was a horrible person, egging her on to kill herself and berating her, and you cant see the injustice that happened?
not only that, but the parents responsible for what happened (this is not in the msnbc article but in one that i read around when this first happened) dont even feel that the death was their fault and felt in no way responsible.
hmm this is an extremely disturbing case. i dont believe the mother of the child who created the account can be serous when she says she helped make the account, perhaps she is trying to cover for her daughter in some way?
i hope this burns them to the core because of their unthinking stupidity they case the death of someone young. possibly there could be legal action if they can prove that those who made the account knew she was emotionally fragile and knew perhaps the potential consiquinces for their actions but it would be perhaps too far a stretch.
this is a very good example of what foolish mischief can cause. though people may precieve the internet as being just a game or a non real place what you do there can have consiquinces in the real world - especially when emotions are put into play. i would personally be shattered beyond repair if i learned that my unthinking malicious actions caused the events leading to a person dieing.

Not for killing herself over something on myspace.
i have been down this road and i can tell you that just because its myspace doesnt mean that this person is stupid.
words are real, emotion in words are real. as soon as you start filling a void that someone is desperately seeking to fill then you run the risk of emotionally shattering them. i have believed a lie because i wanted it to be true, even though to everyone else it was totally fraudulent. to the person it is real and nothing anyone says can convince them otherwise until the "spell" is broken.
imagine yourself being very lonely, severely depressed. how would you seriously react if someone suddenly began to fill that void. it didnt happen over night like the article makes it seam, it was a built up relationship over the month. you are already saying that its too short an amount of time take into account that in less then a month though i knew sez i did not know her. in that time we made hours and hours of conversations and i decided to date her then. the feeling didnt take ages to come, they where built as we began to know and understand each other.
simply because you have no experienced something does not mean it isnt a valid experience for someone else. depression is extremely serous, its very real and outcomes like this story are also very real. take a look at the suicide rate and you will begin to grasp the scope of this issue.
it isnt a stupid person committing suicide over a lame ass msn convo, its a medically hampered individual pushed over the edge through an emotionally traumatizing experience. i have been right to the edge of this abyss and have come back from it, i know just how serous it can be.

I'm glad so many of you can't muster even the smallest amount of empathy for a mentally troubled girl who was convinced she finally had a boy who liked her, only to be tormented to the point where she was literally told to kill herself.
I'm also glad some of you either get amusement from it, or feel disdain for the girl herself. Way to try seeming edgy and cool, douchebags.
What a whiny little ******.
I sincerely hope your girlfriend dies in fire or car accident while you desperately try to save her. Why don't you go quote Nietzsche while pouring concrete, you worthless dissembling prick.
"At first it just looked like a picture of a bunch of lily pads, but then I started scraping at it with my pocket knife and the whole painting just sort of spoke to me," Schmidt said. "For the first time, I finally understand what Monet was trying to get across in her work."
