        Re: Contest submissions due today!

I just got back to RPG Maker 3 and I'm going to spend a couple hours tonight and most of tomorrow making the game playable and smooth from start to finish. I can't guarantee success but I think there's at least a decent chance I pull it off.

So right now I am planning on "updating" my submission before the Sunday morning deadline. Valkysas, if you haven't played my game yet, I might recommend saving it for last. I will let you know tomorrow evening if it doesn't look like I will be able to improve the file enough that it's worth re-submitting.

        Thanks to everyone,
        Wave

If I don't play and judge the file you submitted by the deadline, you aren't eligible to win.

I'm aware of that... at least I think I am.

Basically, if I send you the update and that's what you play instead, I'm in the contest, and I have the (updated) file reviewed, and I can still technically "win", but any prizes I win are transferred to the next-highest-ranking contestant and I get nothing.

Is that correct? If so... as I would tell Firefox, "I understand the risks".

              Re: Contest submissions due today!

Not really. I'm not even going to play and review the late entries until I play and review the on-time submissions and pick a winner. And then, the highest score the late games can get in their point scale will be 10 points less than the third place winner's score. It may seem unfair, but that's the only way I can avoid "technical" wins and the people who turned their games in on time feeling like they didn't really win. The people who turn their games in late will never get to know how they would have faired against the top three. When I said "not eligible to win anything", I meant anything.

                WHAT!!!

Seriously, I totally understand your rationale there and it's fair. I could see how the people who didn't have the advantage of a couple extra days might not feel good about winning a contest without the highest score (even though there are a couple of them I seriously doubt my game could trump).

Now I'm really left between a rock and a hard place, though. I get to choose between an almost definitely bad review I deserve, and a potentially bad review (based on other scores) that I potentially don't deserve. Strangely, the former sounds like the better option.

I need to sleep on this; I'll let you know what I decide tomorrow. Thanks for the precise info.

Double-posting to ensure this isn't missed.

I have decided to NOT update my Game for this contest. Had it been hamstrung by the 3rd place rule, it would be too vexing for me. Feel free to play today if ya want, Valk. Thanks for the offer to submit late anyway. Hope you enjoy my game.

To anyone who's really interested in this game, I will work on it at a slower clip in the coming weeks and should have a good version out by late this month, possibly sooner.

                    Re: Contest submissions due today!

progress with playing these is sloooooow.

Weather's been really hot lately, and there isnt an air conditioner upstairs. the heat gets really unbearable, especially if my PS3 is on (and I worry that the heat may kill it due to the way the fan sounds sometimes). So I'm taking a break from playing any more contest games until thursday, which is when the heat is supposed to break at last.

I wonder what the effect would be if they were put together back-to-back.
