View Full Version : I want to make my game using this.

But... I don't want to do it alone, because I know I'll give up on it eventually. Also, I'm no good at filler parts of stories. All I can really think about is where to start and where to end. Everything else is just a blur.
If anyone wants to like... combine story ideas with me and work together on a script, characters, etc., I'd much appreciate it.

Very few people here can claim to have made their games alone! Most of us have had either help or influence from these boards. That is why they are here!
As for your request, most folk here are "storytellers" or else they would not be attracted to the RPG Maker series.

If you started your story and asked people to continue it as was done there, you may like what you see (at least those parts that are not meant to insult or annoy any specific people here).
Right now your request is a little vague for a direct answer.
What kind of story do you have in mind?
What kind of attitude (serious, silly, dark, etc.)? I am a sarcaleptic (subject to uncontrollable bouts of sarcasm) so any suggestions I make would likely be silly. But I am sure there are others here who would help with the other "attitudes" about which I know nothing.

I have got many of my ideas from SNES video games, but not all of them. I have only posted one of my ideas on RPG Maker Palilion though.

Did you read the topic?
And Den, if you have a beginning and an end, you should be able to create a middle. In fact, creating the middle is the easiest part. It's just like the start and the finish, meaning you just need an idea of things you want to happen. You have what's happened before, and you have what will happen after, you just need to fill in the blanks.

Did you read the topic?
Yes, I read the topic. I thought it was a good example of how folks here can make things happen. It seemed relevant. I may have been wrong.
But we still have not heard back from Denethor about this, so the world may never know.
Oy.

You cna combine your story idea with this:First person story
Once there were 5 elements spirits, each one had anough power to shake the world and its foundation. One day a young boy by the name of seroceles, I was exploring a lost ruin to find find out about my past, and why everyone is now afraid of me,
Chapter 1:Grim stix
but things were not always this way, he was once a proud prince, he had
virtually no enemies, then one day it came to pass that, as the oracle had
said, I would eventually grow to be hated, because of my looks. Well it just so happed that I already had, unaware by the poeple of greece, that I was already growing darker, more mysterious, eventually I did not even know
myself. Afterward I went into a deep sleep, witch lasted 150 years, then I
had to meditate for 15 more years to discover that I was not actually born in Greece, but born to a uperclass family of elementals. One day as I was sleeping in my bed, trying to recover my lost sleep, my village was attacked
by the wind elementals, Only I survived, only to be scared for life with an ugly face,my honor was since then lost, and each night I sleep, I always have nightmares about how I should have saved my village, slowly driving myself insane, and i should also have saved the royal family, especially the Princess, who was my childhood friend, who was captured and beheaded by axe and block. Now left to be cured to be alone on this forsaken planet, the only remains that the civilization every was alive, is burnt buildings, and two loaves of bread.
Chapter 2:Rapier,Rose, and the mask.
???
Chapter 3:The infection of knowledge of the ancients.
???
Chapter 4:???(hint:story from grandia)
No I leave it to you to finish this story.

The plain truth, Denethor, is this:
Everyone wants to make their own game.
No one wants to make someone else's game for them.
The only feasible transferring between people can be specific details like exact scripts or general ideas like story events.
Most people never complete the games they start.
It may be hard to take in, but good luck, you can do it if you set your mind to it.

Everyone in the world stopped reading right there.
I stopped reading at "There were 5...":lol I mean, why does there be a number higher than 1 in a RPG?
Are you saying people should use negative numbers? That would be more suitable for a zombie game.
Ryner

I think that would work out well.
"To defeat the ultimate evil, you must collect all negative 5 power stones. "
Crimson Knight

No, like this:
"To destroy the ultimate evil, you must LOSE 5 power stones!"
Oops... :lol
You guys are seriously stealing my good ideas. :(

.....What if I have no power stones to start off with?!
I only know of a couple people who decide to not make the game Will, but that's only for the RPGM2 range, I have no idea how many quit on RPGM1

Mostly the people that never finish the games we don't know the names of and are long gone by now. :lol A lot of times to people say they're still working on a game and really they're not. If you go to somewhere with general gamers like the gamefaqs RPG General forum and ask about RPGM2 you'll get a lot of responses with people who badmouth RPGM1 and 2 for limitations (1) and difficulty (2). It is quite sad, I know. :|

Aye, I have never finished a game in the year(s) I've owned RPGM and RPGM2. I've had tons of plots, but never could stick with one. I am hoping RPGM3 will be some inspiration. Hoping.

I never finished any game I came up with or started on with RM1 because they couldn't be done the way I wanted. A couple of them would be perfect for RM3 when it comes out and RM2 when I figure out how to use it. I just got RM2 a few weeks ago. And now I'm planning on getting them done.

I'm totally going to try to make Infinus with RPG Maker 3. So that will make it the third time with three games spanning two systems and like four years that I tried.
I kinda want to succeed this time.

If you need help making stories, buy the 3.5 D&D box set with Player's Handbook, Dungeon Master's Guide, and Monster Manual, and force your friends at gunpoint to let you DM while they play (Though it may be a little difficult for them to roll dice while shackled to the table).
Seriously, if testing your plot concept with D&D doesn't help you figure out the middle of the story and build memorable characters, then you are either hopelessly inept at making filler material or your friends don't even have a single creative brain cell to share amongst themselves.
I've also found that making the opening and just letting your imagination take over the rest can be another good way to get them creative juices flowing.

add me to the "never finished a single rpg maker game" club.
i, also, will be trying to create the same game i had in mind for the original rpg maker. all while modernizing the plot to fit my more mature tastes and eliminating the ridiculous similarities to ff7's characters.
it sucks trying to create a modern-times game. bah.

I have not finsished my game as well. RPGM1 has about as much power as the queen of england. (She's a figurehead, by the way.) Although I am considering "remixing" it on RPG3, I'm probobly going to make a new, non-linear game.
Non-linear. The words rush through the pavillion as the vetrean designers consider how high this lad must be to consider such a moronich feat. His only supoort comes from sadsitics who want to watch him squrim as he realizes how impossible this feat is.
Well, if I write down every switch I use in a notebook, I could pull it off.
also, any non-sadistics got some help advice for my game in planning, The Vagabound?. Oh, and for those who haven't, check out the RPG mker 3 vid's at gamespot.com.

I've never finished any game I've tried with RPGM 1 or 2. Partially because I didn't have a full story ready by the time I had picked up either RPGM 1 or 2, and I ended up being completely frustrated with the systems after a while. I always had issues with switches (RPGM1) and variables/flags (RPGM2) and trying to get them to trigger. I'm also not much of a programmer of math wiz like a lot of people on this forum seem to be, so that was another bit of frustration for me.
I'm giving RPGM3 a try, because I've always wanted to see a story from my head in game form. I'm already writing the story right now, so hopefully I can have that done by the release date. I'm also going to do something I should have done with the first two RPGMs and ask for help. Can't hurt...that much.
