I have a few ideas for radio stations on my game, but since I don't listen to much music, that would be awesome if someone could recommend some songs for various radio stations. Independent songs are preferred. Here are the planned stations that have regularly-played and some of the tracks I plan for them(Other stations exist, talk radio ones and others):
Station Name: "America"
Host: William "Lone Rebel" McNash. The host is a Desert Storm veteran who prides himself in his patriotism. However, with his country in a state of civil war, he's heartbroken to see it torn apart and wishes to unite it once again. His political views and personality are one part John McCain, two parts hippie, and three parts Hunter S. Thompson. He is disgusted with the government's overall size and perpetual warfare. Politics play a large part in his talks. McNash owns the radio station he broadcasts at and it is a one-man operation. His motto: "If it moves, shoot it, 'cause I don't give one goddamn lickin' what it was afterwards. You're on America."
Description: This station is an unauthorized 'rebel' station hosted from a trailer park in Menard. Since it is away from the city in the heart of the rebel-occupied wastelands, the government has not been able to shut it down, despite its illegality. It proudly flies a tattered upside down American flag at half staff outside its building.
Song Themes: All songs played are American. Some emphasize the beauty of what America once was before the nuclear and civil war, many are relics of rock and roll from the 1960s and 1970s, some country and folk is also played
Some songs planned: "Horse With No Name" by America, "South City Midnight Lady" by The Doobie Brothers, "Cats in the Cradle" by Harry Chapin, "Do it Again" by Steely Dan
Station Name: Trance XM
Host: Lex Langaurd. That's not his real name, but the name he goes by. He's a very high profile hacker and runs his radio station out of Tracer's Nightclub in Maddox. His security is top notch, and only a well-planned raid could take him and his station out. Due to security reasons, he has been known to temporarily run the radio station from a van in an effort to keep it mobile in the event of a raid. "Log on to Trance XM."
Description: Another unauthorized and illegal station, Langaurd hijacked the satillite of another station and uses it to broadcast his vision. Since his club is located in the city, it often faces raids from the government. However, they have been unsuccessful in shutting it down. Once they get the hacker community in an uproar, it becomes difficult and costly to deal with this radio station, in money, electronics, and sometimes lives. They play music of the electronically generated variety, techno, trance, goa, ect.
Some songs planned: Many tracks by DJ Pandable and others. I want all independent tracks for this station. I have one custom track called "War Driving" I've been making.
Station Name: I-USA
Host: Kendall Johnston fancies himself as a working class American, but what his listeners don't know(or refuse to accept) is that he's really the son of an Exxon Mobil CEO and this is the first and only job he's ever held. Fiercly conservative, Johnston denounces anyone that disagrees with his worldview as a traitor. Often, he has people call in and if someone makes a statement he doesn't like, he berates them and cuts them off so they cannot talk. He also airs broadcasts of Rush Limbaugh on a regular basis. "I am America, on I-USA."
Description: Owned and operated by the Clear Channel media corporation. They now own 100% of all legal radio stations in the country! This station plays Patriotic puke on a regular basis and is a major lobbyist of politicians that threaten to kill all of those that have illegal radio stations. They'd prefer them to be tried for sedition or treason and to be executed, permanently eliminating the competition. This station has personally financed the killing of those who run other radio stations not Clear Channel owned with hired mercenaries. It is broadcast nationwide from a satellite and its headquarters is unknown. It is not in Gateway City.
Some songs planned: "God Bless the USA" by Lee Greenwood, "Courtesy of the Red, White and Blue" by Toby Keith, "Born in the USA", by Bruce Springsteen
Station Name: HUG XM
Host: Eyriegus, the short stocky and cloaked host of this station heavily resembles Uncle fester. It just so happens that he's not human, and not of this world.
Description: Demons have taken over and run this station. 24 hours a day, a SWAT team surrounds it, trying to figure out a way to capture it and return it to Clear Channel, which owns it. Heads of slain officers adorn the pike fence, as a reminder to anyone who is dumb enough to try to enter the building. The host is psychotic and disturbingly cheerful on the topic of death; it brings joy to his face each time one of his demons brings him a slain SWAT team officer, police officer, or military personal to feed to his cerberus named "Babycakes". It has a penchant for defecating the bones of those it has consumed just seconds after eating them at a high rate of speed, shooting them at hundreds of feet per second out of its nether region. Eyriegus also has a giant man-eating demon vulture as a companion that spits acidic puke to kill its human prey. With a razor-sharp beak large enough to remove an arm, even the demons steer clear of it. Since the bird has been bad and has gotten into fights with "Babycakes", Eyriegus keeps it tethered to a perch with spikes digging into its feet, making the bird shriek in agony. Eyriegus does not run the station, however. That remains a mystery. They play a variety of songs from their world and ours, with a preference for classical music. No longer owned by Clear Channel since the demons took it over.
Some songs planned: Various custom tracks to be music from the demon realm and lots of Baroque and other classical music. Organs are a favorite instrument for the station and are a theme in their songs. They'll also air live killings of prey.
Station Name: SMASH! 93 XM
Host: Stacy Lear, your stereotypical ditzy airhead of a woman that is into every new fad that comes about. The most shallow of people, she is very annoying to listen two, especially with her constant Valley Girl speak and use of mant trite cliches. "On the hour, every hour, our hits like totally have SMASH!"
Description: Since new culture and music is almost non-existant in the post-war world, they tend to recycle pop songs from the recent past, although some less popular tracks from the past do turn up on occassion due to having gained popularity over a decade after release. They play the most tasteless songs imaginable and sometimes they play original/creative songs that are just plain annoying. Owned by Clear Channel.
Some songs planned: "South Side" by Moby and Gwen, "Geo Logical Lust" by Causey Way
Station Name: PEEC Radio
Host: Dreadaelous 2k10. Sophisticated, arrogant, and moderately snobby, no one would believe this host to be a street punk at first glance. And he's also half black, half oriental. His nickname is such due to large dreadlocks in his hair and represents the year he adopted it. "Punk ain't dead. This country's what's ****in' dead!"
Description: This hijacked station is run in the middle of the Shantytown of East Gateway city. It is often attacked by military seeking to shut it down, as it is an asset to rebels wishing to get their messages to the public. After Clear Channel used the military to destroy their original radio antenna, they just called in Lex Langaurd to hack them one of Clear Channel's satellites! for a lofty sum, or course. They play mostly various forms of punk rock music and often have discussions on politics and raise questions that aren't ever in the media otherwise. Sometimes they'll play non-punk songs that have their politics as an issue.
Some songs planned: "The Final Conflict" by Burning Image, "No ****in' War" by The Dicks, "Boom" by System of a Down, "Yuppie Cadillac" by Jello Biafra and the Melvins
Station Name: Cyan XM
Host: Jeremiah Godfrey. This host is depressed, yet great with a saxophone and can play any of his favorite songs by rote. He loves blues, and so he got a contract to host a radio station.
Description: They play Blues music. Lots of it.
Some songs planned: "Too Rolling Stoned" by Robin Trower, "Saucerships to Ragtime" by Zen Guerrilla, "Life By The Drop" by Stevie Ray Vaughan
Station Name: The 90s
Host: Adam Burg, a white, suburb-raised 30-something host trapped in his youth, playing the music he grew up with. "You're in the 90s, where Curt Cobain is not dead!"
Description: They play various 90s rock music, with the 90s coming back in style full swing in the post-nuclear war and post-civil war eras. Nostaliga for the old is at an all time high.
Some songs planned: "Sliver" by Nirvana, "Blood Sugar Sex Magik" by the Red Hot Chili Peppers, "Come Out And Play" by The Offspring, "Freak on a Leash" by Korn
Station Name: 109.6 Smooth Jazz
Host: Vincent King. Fat, black, wealthy, and a very rich low voice like that of Barry White. Great with the ladies, he often hosts from his hot tub. Sometimes giggling can be heard from his lady friends. He's been known to drive around in fancy sports cars and participate in races across the wastelands and city, despite the danger and illegality. "We play Soul, Jazz, and anything that'll get you in the mood. We get it on here, baby."
Description: Clear Channel owned, but Vincent doesn't care. It's all about the money. They play various Jazz and Soul music. Sometimes disco.
Some songs planned: "It Hurts Like Hell" by Aretha Franklin, "Ride Like the Wind" by C. Cross, "Spanish Moon" by Robert Palmer, "Fm" by Steely Dan
Station Name: Bling City
Host: Tough, street smart, and always angry, Pit Bull, the host, fondly recalls the days he spent in the hood and in prison. "Bling Bling mutha****a'. You're in Bling City."
Description: This Clear Channel owned station normally plays all sorts of rap puke that came out of the 90s and 2000 era. However, Pit Bull is angry and has decided to play banned songs. His armed gaurds make sure no one messes with him.
Some songs planned: "Cop Killer" by Ice-T, "Air Force Ones" by Nelly, "My Mother Smokes Crack Rocks" by Wesley Willis, "Drop It Like It's Hot" by Snoop Dog
Station Name: K-KLAS
Host: Richard Hurley grew up on a farm. His dad grew up on the classic music of the 1950s, as did he. Racist, beliggerant, wasteful, and bigoted, he fits right in with the media monopoly and with the mindset of a large portion of those in the cities. Viewed as a relic of more prosperous times, his station is a hit. "You're on K-Klas, the station with class. Thank-ya very much, uh-huh-huh."
Description: This Clear Channel owned station plays 50s rock and roll on a regular basis.
Some songs planned: "Promised Lands" by Elvis, "I'm Not A Juvenile
Deliquent" by Frankie Lymon & Teenagers, "Why Do Fools Fall in Love" by The Beach Boys
Station Name: DEAD XM
Host: Dustin FaVas was raised on Howard Stern, heavy metal, hookers, and one hell of a lot of drugs. Unafraid to do what's natural, he'd have been long removed from the air had he started his career five years ago when the religious right was in power. He's even known to continue his intermissions between songs and call-ins while on the toilet taking a dump, or jerking off to a porno right inside his studio. Taking after the idol of his youth, he heavily resembles Howard Stern. "Are you stoned? Nah, you're probably Dead."
Description: Another unauthorized station, owned by a corporation that wishes to create competition with Clear Channel. They are largely left to their own devices, since the religious right has long ago been marginalized after the corporations got the control they wanted. They play all sorts of what would have once been considered obscene rock music. A raid has only occured once.
Some songs planned: "Toecutter" by Scorched Earth Policy, "Hate Crew Deathroll" by Children of Bodom, "Obsolete" by Fear Factory
Station Name: "America"
Host: William "Lone Rebel" McNash. The host is a Desert Storm veteran who prides himself in his patriotism.
