    Academagia

This topic isn't about an RPG Maker title from RetroX, though I am involved in it. As a background information writer, I have been working on this for the last several months. It is aiming to be released in May 2009.

A great deal of material has been written on this and I have actually worked on this more than any of my own RPGM projects. Discussion on this game can occur here, or perhaps at the forums at the game's own site listed below.

    Re: Academagia

Aside from the fact that its such a *blatant* ripoff of the HP universe, it looks pretty neat. I will definitely check this out when I have more time (working at the moment). But I wish I could find more information as to the gameplay itself. I really have no idea what to expect right now.

How Badly Do You Want It? (VX Ace) is now available for download! - no outside software necessary.

No information is really given, except that it is supposed to be a life simulator. You get to do what you want, when you want. You can completely avoid the main story if you so choose.

Saying that, I totally expected the Harry Potter statement. It would be foolish to say that HP's success had no basis for this game, but it is hardly a ripoff of the 'universe'. (Avoiding HP material was specifically stated in the contract, IIRC)

The setting and basis are very similar, but as one of staff of Black Chicken Studios (the developer) has told me there are actually other literary works that have more of an influence than HP. Let's not jump to conclusions.

Although I have been expecting this ever since I first saw this site. Mmm hmm.

        Thanks Valk for moving this!

Anyway, for those of you who don't know what we were talking about...

This was originally in my games forum, but asked for it to be moved here for a few reasons. Such as although I am a writer for this, it isn't an RPGM project. It is a commercial game that I am proud to be part of. Release date is currently May, but you know how these things go sometimes.

Good luck getting people interested in your game via the website that offers almost no information and all of one screenshot.

Yeah, and the readability of the text isn't that great with the colors you guys chose.

Whoops those are just the brightness settings on my monitor!

I think you owe the fine fellows at Chicken studios an apology.

If by 'people' you mean the Pavilion and RPG Maker Magazine. I haven't talked about this game anywhere else.

And the site should be updated more towards release. I'm not expecting much discussion on what the game is about, I'm just still in the stage where I want to show it off.

So until May (or maybe next month?) it's back to actually working on this thing for me.

I dunno. White text on a light blue background makes it fairly hard to read.

So this game is nearing its release date. It has been pushed back more times than desired, but its in the final stages right now. I'm getting that 'squee' feeling.

Oh, and FYI: The developers are aware of this thread. I had to explain that you all were not trolls.

Has anyone on the team played King of Dragon Pass? It was a 2000 interactive story/strategy title set in a Norse inspired fantasy world and it was pretty fun. Might have to check this out.

I don't know if any of them has played that. I haven't even heard of it.

Well, the old release date wasn't met obviously. There is a new one that will be- Friday. This coming Friday (the 13th). Took awhile, considering the release date kept getting pushed back, the initial time was April 2009. I hope it will all be worth it- I'm hoping to work on the second.

The game will be $25 and available at GamersGate, Beamdog, and Impulse.

                            Only two days left!

                            And a full review.

And it even has its own board on GameFAQs now. Even with the obligatory "name Black Chicken is racist" troll topic.

                              Re: Academagia

although Academagia: The Making of Mages is designed for young children, the amount of reading required will inevitably reward only two kinds of players: those who are willing to play alongside their parents, and those who have already invested a great deal of time in adopting reading as a hobby.
                              Really?

I don't know much about your game there, but I can imagine that you made the game for people that, y'know. Can read.
