Early last month, I asked people if they wanted to join our staff. There was a pretty big turnout of people who wanted to help. I said I'd consult the rest of the admins and come to a decision, and I never did. I changed my mind about what we were going to do.
What I'm about to say hasnt even been run by the rest of the staff. It's something I've been thinking about for about two weeks, and I decided it just has to be done.
I'll cut to the chase briefly and say that Crimson Knight, Vonwert, and Hitogoroshi have been promoted to administrators, and are clear to work on the website itself if they feel inclined to do so. These will likely not be the only staff additions, and if the above three don't feel like taking part in what I'm about to announce, they are under no obligation to do so. If they don't want to take part in it, they can stay as forum admins and I'll bring on even more people for the next big task.
We're changing the way the pavilion operates. I got the motivation for this a while ago when watching how Hito handled the RPG Maker workshop forums he moderates here. He lets the users of the forum decide how things are organized and other important decisions. I want to see this happen on a much larger scale. The RPG Maker community itself is now in control of the RPG Maker Pavilion, through a new staff position that will be introduced in the next few days called "Community Advisor"
Community Advisors MUST be active with RPG Maker. Either with the software itself, or the RPG-making part of the community. They will have access to a special forum where they will make proposals and decisions that will determine the direction of the site and RPG Maker areas of the forums. new content, new methods of doing things, they will be able to influence and contribute to EVERYTHING on the site. The site admins will take part in this process, and help bring to life any changes the advisors decide on.
What's it take to be a Community Advisor? You have to be a pavilion member, you must own at least one of the console RPG Makers, and you must be active in the RPG Maker scene. You just have to ask (not in this topic, that will come later) and you will likely be added unless you have not carried yourself here in a proper and semi-intelligent manner. Community Advisors that contribute a lot may be promoted to site administrators as well.
I apologize to the rest of the staff for not bringing this up sooner, but it was going to happen no matter what. The community is lagging, people are losing interest, and it's painfully obvious things have to change with how the Pavilion is run to keep things alive and evolving.
If you have any questions at all, please ask.
EDIT: I was just asked via AIM how much control the advisors and new staff will have over the site. the level of control is absolute. I would not be surprised to see the entire site reworked and reorganized as a result of their ideas.
