Sent my entry in. I don't know anything about Monster Rancher, but I read the wikipedia entry on it, and from that I was able to create a short story. It's pointless and ridiculous and doesn't deserve to win anything.

Happy April Fool's Day, everyone!

Don't worry, there won't be any pranks here. It's past 12am pretty much everywhere now, so submissions for the contest are now closed. Thanks to everyone who entered! In the end we got a total of 9 (!) submissions, including Ryner's entry, but he totally counts because he saved my life one time and I owe him.

Yes, this means one of you will walk away with nothing. Don't cry, we promise we won't laugh.

We'll be putting up a poll (or several) sometime next week so the Pavilion can decide who gets the DSi XL and who gets the shaft.

Well, certainly, I'll go first.

There are quite a variety of reasons why you should vote for me as your winner, only three of which I will explain in the following paragraphs. If the reasons below do not satisfy and convince, please PM me for the remaining nineteen reasons.

First of all is the fact that in spite of the fact that I knew close to nothing (okay nothing) about Monster Rancher before I entered, unlike so many non-enterering side-sitters, I stood up. I bared my soul in ink and lead in order to show RPGD that we at the Pav will leave no man dry. We stand and support. We come together in tough times. We are the ralliers of victorious triumph!

Secondly, not only did I take time to painstakingly draw in pencil Dixon ORIOLE 287 2HB, but I then went over the pencil with a fine Sharpie (whew! It makes me sweat just to think of all that work again) and as a bonus filled in the Sharpie outlines with marker (and scented marker, nonetheless) to create a child-friendly, multi-colored, many-layered, whimsical (and incredibly magical if I do say so myself) montage featuring several (and you were thinking only three perhaps?) prominent characters in the Monster Rancher series (yes, and I most certainly DID include the pinkish-white guy with the green hattish thing).

Also, I then created a poem featuring not one but seven, yes SEVEN stanzas of rhyming glory. When I say glory, I'm talking about the kind of work that would make Milton say "Good job, old chap! I wish I had that talent," the kind of work that would make Shakespeare put his hand on his forehead and drop his jaw at the same time in total awe! (On a brief sidenote, after winning this contest, I am thinking about quitting my job just to set up my own greeting card company because of those very skills.)

As you can see, my entry should win A major (if not THE major prize!)
