Re: Happy Birthday, RPG Maker Pavilion

The more shocking thing is how long we've been on vbulletin. I still associate so much of this place with the crappy ezboard where we'd have to switch between the gaming grounds and regular pavilion in order to **** with the price of a gold subscription.

The pavilion did help me grow up, it made me mature and hardened me for sure. Maybe a little too much at times. I've had to take a break from the place every so often when I found myself becoming too critical thanks to you crumb bums on occassion. But hey, we can all afford to mellow out on occassion. Lord knows there have been far too many times where I got really defensive here.

It's remarkable the collective of creative minds here, and it drives me to always pursue my own musical endeavours and I'm so, so excited for when the day comes that I'm confident enough in my work to finally share it with you guys. I think about how far everyone has come. Where Den has come since his crappy little sketches way back when, or Caciss, imagine where he's gonna be when he's Sejon's age, Renamon. Rick's got a ****ing book printed for christ sake. It makes me think about the sprites I made back in like two-thousand-****ing-four and I kick myself for not keeping at it and imagining where I would be today if I had the drive the individuals here have.

But, man all the ****ing memories. How freakin' retarded we all were back then. How all the spurned pavvies would wash up on poor Sejon's skyler forum (myself included at a point!). Or how about when I was a ****ing double agent between the Mag and the Pav, lol. Oh man remember when we found the Teen Titans porn Catapult Beetle draws now and you all had to explain what "invisi-cocks" where to me?

When I brought my real life friends onto here at various points (the first of which got into a big fight with Magus at one point). Hell, meeting two pavvies in real life has been surreal enough (er..meeting Magus was a much less awkward than being visited by Dingo at work, no offense Ding!).

All the video game nights, from when I played Starcraft and got walled in by Blaze's cannons only to turtle the rest of the match and wind up winning, Diablo 2 with Marl and Blaze incessantly killing their Hardcore characters, Counter-Strike with Magus.

The Xbox Live, PS3 era, I'm still the champ at Soul Calibur 4, and will never beat Garr at MVC2. How we all tried so, so hard to convince ourselves that Metal Gear Online wasn't a piece of ****. City of Heroes with VIT and Jeroak and Vonwert. Or damn, who can forget GTA4 night when Alto hopped into a helicopther and blew us all to pieces?

I don't really post too much anymore, it's no shot against you guys but I'm afraid I'm getting to the point where I've outgrown my use for the boards. I talk to all the people I've really wanted to on AIM and quite frankly I just feel after so many years I'm running out of things to say to you guys for the meantime.

It's the pav, I ***** about all of you like crazy at times but in the end I know I love the lot of you~

**** it, time to rattle off names from the member's list and say mushy ****:

Alzar- Never knew ye, very ecclectic, always funny. "Omni's Grandfather died LOL" was so dick. I hope you're ashamed of that }:3 Remote Control was one of the few RPGM games I played through completion.

Adrian-Sadly, I could actually use that secret santa gift now.

Alex/Smurt-There was a while back where I said I felt a sense of comradery with you as fledgling musicians but didn't understand your lifestyle. I find myself restlessly moving myself more towards that kind of life everyday nowadays. Just, being free and persuing what I want despite what others say.

Alto-Is a geniunely caring dude and he takes his lumps for it but his friends are probably really lucky to have him around, no wonder he's not here all that much!

Blaze-It was funny when the Rat Men in the cathedral killed your hardcore character.

BZ-gotten to know you more over the last year, and your drive and talent is awesome. I wish I could help you on that project but I'm in a **** place right now.

Biggie-I remember when you first came here with your Hippy Hunt game I totally hated you and I have no clue why that was. Not the case any longer, like JVR the airforce has made your abrasive but sometimes the honesty is very much needed. I'm glad you're doing something that gives you direction but I'm afraid I always laugh when you rag on others for being geeky or whatever because I think of your big inky donatellor skateboarding tattoo with the gummi neck.

    BioHunter-ahahaha.

Bon-you put up with a TON of **** here, some of it deserved. I think it's pretty awesome you can roll with the punches like you do, though.

Caciss-mother ****ing Caciss! From giving him relationship advice to getting my ass handed to me by him in SC or whatever else he's always fun as hell to talk to. I have to admit I was really upset this one time I went into pav chat and like right away you made some joke about me apologizing to you about something over aim to everybody in the chat room . Jerk. Stick with the art, you are going to be something big.

Chuck-Seriously cheer the **** up, dude.

Chrono-I sold you some of my PS1 games and I wish I didn't~ I hope you enjoyed them, though!

Jeff-is a man of few words and I don't know him very well but apparently he did all these emotes so you've been a big factor in my posting here!

Czechs-The pavilion book keeper. Unlike Serge and Owl though you've been here in the long run. I'm a little scared to think about all the things you have on us all. The anime systems/declaration picture was like the funniest thing I've seen in years, literally.

d2king-Another talented pavilion artist who argues about the vidya a little too much~ Snorderlands!

Den-**** your hydralisks. Uh I always really appreciated your attempts to get everyone in on artsy things like the morrowind story and stuff and I'm sorry they didn't pan out but I still had fun doing it!

    Duel-Slow it down, cowboy.

Funk/Fushi-You guys have been here forever but I'm afraid I don't really know either of you very well at all, I'm sorry folks!

Garr-You are too smart and good at fighting games. I kinda wonder what you are a bad at if anything.

Gloom-You are talented as hell, but try way too hard to prove yourself to all of us. What you went through was probably really really difficult and I'm sorry we make light of it sometimes but when you throw punches you gotta take some, too. We all love you anyway, man.

    Gouf-**** your sniping in MGO.

Gray-The good ol' days ain't coming back, old man!

Gus-My original supporter for Silent Hill: Shattered Memories before everyone wised up and realized I was right about the game, thank you...FRIEND.

Highwind-You are the most serious funny man I've ever seen. :o

    Hito-you Cake loving son of a *****.

IRC-I'm glad he kinda found something else to occupy his time with, I mean I think he's a cool dude but he never really seemed all that happy to be here.

Rick-Ahahahah, what a checkered history we have. Butting heads all the time over ****ing Staffmaster of all goddamn people. Glad your book worked out and hey if you know any hot single goth babes gimme their number I wouldn't mind relocating out there.

Marl-I'd say sorry for arguing with you years ago but I'm sure you don't remember at all, and quite frankly neither should I.

Jamos-I'd do anything to be able to buy you more clever jokes or something, man.

Jeroak-It's cool, we all like our PS3's and we get you don't like the 360. We're cool.

MORA-You are a total pal of mine and watching lost and the king of the hill episode where Hank goes to anger management over Netflix was a lot of fun. It's a bit of a drag you can't keep up in the competitive vidya but I still had fun in SC4 with you. We've had misunderstandings/communications in the past but I'm glad they're all behind us. You always say to broaden your horizons, you should follow your own advice and learn to use a mouse/keyboard!

JSpace-another fountain of creativity, I always look forward to checking in with the spaceman.

Lopez-you're not going to see this but I'm glad we still keep in touch. I wish you'd pick up the guitar again though.

Marc-The last line to mora is applied to you as well~

Muse-When/if you go to college, make sure you live there and do something worthwhile for a major, you really need the perspective. This isn't a shot, I'm serious about this.

Kefka-It's a little weird knowing your brother who came here much later a lot more than I know you but you are certainly the more quiet of you two and we entered college at the same time! The story about your just saying "**** all" and arranging to put on a show and just doing it is actually really inspiring and something I'm totally going to pull on my band in the very near future.

Kire-Sometimes it's a little too easy to tease you after you make a post in the video game forum, sorry! Gotta give props to the creator though, and like the only other person on the pav that's played through all the Legacy of Kain games.

Loki-I think I'm going to give you **** about your proposed "honestly matrix" (I'd pull up the post but I don't have the time, it was in the goblet of fire movie topic though) for grading movies until the day I die

This is something that isn't said enough for the people who do have it though on the pav: it's really great that you found a wife that you love, Loki.

Maijo-You're an oddball but you like the pumpkins so it's cool. I'm seeing them next monday I'll wear a shirt that says Siva Press or something

Marcus-Who am I to question your passion but sometimes the vidya just isn't worth arguing about.

Nixon-Well...I'm sorry we've grown very far apart the past few years as we stopped seeing eye-to-eye on a lot of stuff. I realize it's nothing personal. Who could forget the excitement of everyone bending over backwards to get PSU running for you!?

Obright-You're big, you got a huge beard and you're gay. Really I'm pretty sure that make you the prodigal son of the pavilion.

Perv-I agree with you and even relate to you a lot of times. I'm sure you already know how often you go overboard. It doesn't bother me as much as it seems to get to others but I do skip your posts sometimes, man! Thanks for the music recommendations over the years and though you stopped listening after Mellon Collie came out I really think you should check out Adore by Smashing Pumpkins~

Red Dragon-You're another one that takes a lot of **** here and rolls with it, that's respectable.

Riotsword-there was something you did that really bugged me but for the life of me I can't remember. So I guess I'll just start over again with you!

Rowboat/Sivart-Keep the attitude you have now, you're going to need it in the future when you start growing more independent.

RPGD-Your generousity knows no bounds, I remember I felt really awful accepting a gift from you because I hadn't always been kind to you in the past, but it inspired me to be generous in turn. Since then I have done volunteer work and been less thifty with my own gifts.

Ryner-Funny dude, love playing Left 4 Dead and TF2 with you.

Sampson-You've overcome something very great, and should be proud of it. Again I know it's nothing personal, but sometimes you gotta let other people live the way they want to as well. Sorry to single you out in that regard, I'm sure that's a line we could all follow from time to time. Not to be Perversion and mention it twice in one post but I think it's awesome you hold Adore in such high regard as well~

Sejon-Too talented, man. I'd say I'd look forward to the day some refined skyler literature or something happens but I know it'd be silly to hold out for that with how much you expand and change everything and constantly think about it.

SERGE-I've said it before I'll say it again, I bet the guy ****s out pure charisma.

Sez/Karr-Your drive is always impressive, Sez, arguements about set pieces be damned. Karr you've mellowed out over the years and that's cool.

Magus!-OMG we met in real life! Twice! We'll have to hang out again and really drunkenly ***** about women in a bizarre self-fulfilling prophecy sort of way.

Stormy-You're a bit of a goon, but like most of us you've taken the punches and you'll be growing still.

Crunk-You're a big kid for better or for worse. Not that I think it matters but sometimes I think we'd all like to see what goes on in your head the times when people call you out and you just dismiss it with "OMG BAW I'M NOT BLAH BLAH BLAH *picture of animated girl making face*". Maybe it isn't necessary after all. From the times we played GoW2 though you seem like a cool person to chat with.

Terr-you seriously creep me out, but after going to school for engineering for the past five years I know you are hardly a unique entity in that field

Ryu-I miss this guy, wish he'd come back.

Toaster-Taking a sabbatical from here was good for the both of us, glad we did it. You seem a lot happier and in a better place because of it. I hope your college career pans out.

Translucid-I always find you really funny and cool but can't think of a specific example right now, maybe it's just the hatfire and the johnny depp looks.

Valk-I still think you are crazy, but there is certainly a method to the madness. I know how much you love this place but I really hope one day you can find something to apply your passion and drive to and prosper from it, because you really do deserve it.

VIT-I really think I can say that despite the fact that we never met you might be one of my best friends.

Vonwert-I'm afraid I never spent enough time in the picture topics to get a handle on you (same with gouf), but our MGO nights were always fun as was PSU.

Wavelength and Shard-I don't know you guys but I know you're smart and never really say anything stupid. Not necessarily a RARE thing on the pav but an appreciated one.

To keep from going into a giant splurge, I acknowledged the Pavilion as a whole in my first book. Goes a little something like this:

"The RPG Maker Pavilion, a web community I'm not ashamed to recall and rejoice in knowing. My first long-form writing took place here. My friends, I owe you much."

And I do, from the bottom of my heart.

Re: Happy Birthday, RPG Maker Pavilion

Awwe hell, I didn't wanna get all sentimental but here I go.

I remember coming here seven years ago and everyone was a major dick to me. I wanted to talk about kingdom hearts and all y'all wanted to do was talk about how kingdom hearts sucked. And all the good times that ensued from there. Man I was one horrible, horrible poster. Just horrible. Now I feel like a lot more rounded out individual and less like a tard, and I think this place had something to play into it.

I think it's rad how much of us have stuck it out. And whenever I'd on hiatus from here, it felt like I was quiting a bad addiction. There aint much about me that any of y'all don't already know. From my silly girl problems a few years back to what I'm doing with my life now.

I really hope I don't come off as too abrasive, I like to think my personality here 1:1 as myself in real life. I tend to be honest, outspoken, and rip on poeple often. But it's all in good fun, and most poeple that know me think of me as a positive person. I often rip on myself as well, and I know how much of a geek I am. I guess that's hard to get accross in posts, since it's easy to be misread. Just know I truly don't mean to offend anyone here. Even you perv, I call my friends **** all the time, and I hope you weren't peeved by it.

Anyways I spose I should make a few shout outs too, my place is more niche than Dreamy, so my list won't be as long. now i'm gettin all weepy 'n ****.

Adrian - Don't know ya all too well, but havin a band geek here definitely helps spice things up here with all the damn gamer nerds. And that whole raithwall thing gave me infinite lol's. I wouldn't tell anybody about the time you played DnD again.

Bonanza - Sometimes I worry about ya buddy, you're a cool guy, and you get alot ****. Some of it too harsh, but I'm glad to see you still around. You got some talent though, and I'm glad to see you aint slackin. stay up playa~

Caciss - ha I remember when you were in the nap attack harrassing me all the goddamn time. I couldn't goddamn stand you. Then a few years back we'd be talking *****es and their bull****. I'd like to catch with ya one of these days man.

Doyleman - Doubt you'd read this, but I miss the days we'd try each other's games, and you'd give me tips and whatnot. And our collaboration with my Josaigdan game, man those were good times!

Chuck - i just wanna huuug yooouuuuu

Gouf - I like ya man, but quit being such a biggoty ***** sometimes. I get nerdgasms to ridunkulous geek **** too. Throw some of that **** back.

Gloom - You are one talented guy, and your art is some of the best I've seen here. You're also a super hardcore into the games you play, and I can dig that.

IRC - I think you are funniest guy here, but why do you hate me?

Jeroak - I've learned to accept you for you. but learn to take a joke man.

Lopez - We've always been pretty cool, and thanks for all the info and support when I curious about the airforce. My life still feels aimless, but at least it has some sort of direction.

Nash - Maaaan, come back. The pavvie/doanian I've yet to meet in person.

Mora - you've been positive and **** lately, and i don't like it. coooome baaaack. You've also always been pretty cool to me, more than you should have been.

Muse - I like ya buddy, but quit posting like a turd and everyone will soon not see you as one. I think you'll be seen as a good poster in a few years. If I can, anyone sure as hell can too.

Riotsword - Man, you ARE the dude. I just wanna chill with ya one of these days, and have a few drinks while you show me your insane files on final fantasy 'n ****.

Sezjuric - I think you were the one who pm'd me to 2 girls 1 cup.

Obright - I want to lick your beard. No homo. I miss chattin with ya too buddy.

Perversion - I never read any of your posts that is over one sentence.

Porkchop - We're still good friends and chat often, as you're the only one here who has skype. Congratulations again on your new marriage, and I can't wait to hear about the second kid.

Serge - cooome back, I miss playing Live with you.

Toaster - Maaaaaan. Aside from my best friend, I don't think anyone can give me **** better than you. I enjoyed the little tag team setups we'd do in topics a couple years back while we were on AIM. Good times man, I'd like to catch up with you too with one of these days. And why the **** did we start getting cool AFTER I moved out of Minnesota. ****.

Valkysas - you crack me up man. You've also always been a big supporter of my projects. and I appreciate that for sure.

My (and most likely your) relationship with The Pavilion is complicated and at times probably unhealthy.

You gave an angsty, 13 year old nerd an outlet to make a complete fool out of himself without getting beat up.

Around that time, the only people I could call friends were ones I've never met.

I don't really talk to any of you as intimately as much as I should. Sometimes I view The Pavilion too generally. It's a strange entity. A constantly morphing and fascinating social spectacle.

Thank you for being a friend.

I have a ton of people to talk to on YIM now, thanks to the pavilion. Mora, Rena, Perv, Wave, Rick, Porkchop, Bon, Rob, Libby, and sometimes Biggie and Toaster. I met ALL of them from here.

That's...almost like a miracle, and I'm not kidding. At least it feels like a miracle to have so many funny, intelligent and creative people in one place.
