I think everyone's hoping that with a search feature and a fixed UI, the bazaar will practically become an auction house anyway. We'll see how it goes.
      ...and that's why.

And the Bazaar gives you a little more freedom in some ways, especially since you can bazaar items that you have on you.

So, never gonna use that Blacklip Oyster +3 that just dropped off of a wight (or whatever dropped it last night), okay, put it up in your personal bazaar, and let someone who will use it to make Pugilist weapons purchase it, without going all the way back to the city.

Seriously, if we get a search feature that we can access at the entrance to the bazaars in cities, then it pretty much gives us everything we need without having a regular auction house. I'm sure there are some things that might be easier with an auction house, but once done right, the Bazaar will be just as good.

More promising news, Director Komoto is hopeful the UI lag will be eliminated in November's update, along with other pressing issues. An interesting read.

Sad when a creator of the game pretty much admits they barely tested the game.
Just like every Bethesda game, ever!

How is FFXIV doing in Japan? I would imagine a large American presence isn't necessary for the game to continue as long as it still has a decent numbers of subscriptions in Japan.

There's no telling how the game is doing since everyone's still in trial period for the next 5 days.

After that, we'll see who stays on for the bill.

Edit: nevermind, they just extended the trial period, again.

Really? Damn, I should have bought the game when it came out. The cost of the game for those there since the beginning is almost paying for itself right now.

Re: The Official Final Fantasy XIV Topic

They keep extending the play period because they don't want to release lower active account numbers. By giving all players free months, they can pretty much say they haven't lost any active accounts since they released the game.

I think it's that they just don't want people to abandon it before they start getting it fixed. Would anyone pay for it while it's broken? some, but not most. the second they had to pay, most would drop it, and probably never return. With another free month, they'll be able to keep people on board when they release the november patch, which will hopefully start to turn things around for them.

It's like Valk says. The fixes don't happen until Late November/Mid December. Most people aren't willing to pay to wait for that to happen.

Yeah... That reasoning pretty much assumes that everyone with a vested interest in SE is a complete and utter moron.

No it doesnt, from a business stand point, when their investors ask them for active member numbers, they will not be able to give them an accurate number. You can say its to keep people interested still November, but when has SE ever stepped up and done something that doesn't involve keeping money in their pocket (or any major company for that matter)? It has already been stated that the investors are pretty sketchy about FF14 at the moment, and SE would pretty much do everything to keep their interests from waning.

A free month keeps people playing?

Thanks for the tip, Captain Obvious.

Nice. That is looking much more in line with how a PC MMO should be organized.

The basic addition of coloring to chat functions is something so minute it can be overlooked, but is extremely helpful to a player. Any word on multiple chat windows? (I.E Combat in one, Chat in the other, Linkshell in a third) Thank God they fixed the map too, it was a pain in Beta without the zoom/scroll functions.

There wont be multiple chat "windows", atleast right now, but there will be multiple chat "tabs", so you can switch between them as needed.
