Looks like the celebration is much the same as it was in XI, only this time players must rely on crafters to get the gear. A nice change, but I sure hope they get more imaginative further down the line.
Its too bad that Cataclysm just came out, i've been so addicted to that, but once the newness dies down a bit, i'll be playing FFXIV again. Hopefully around the time the December update comes out.
- A second retainer for everyone (100 more units of space and third bazaar)
- Recipe list is now accessible when crafting. It lists the previous 8 recipes you used and the previous 8 recipes you learned from levequests. Select the recipe and it automatically grabs the materials you need.
- More adjustments to the Market wards, with some areas sorted by gear levels (low 1-20, mid 20-40, high 40-50, etc)
There's an NPC near the guildleve counter in each city. You talk to him/her and they assign you one. You pick the race/gender, and it randomly generates a guy for ya. Reroll if you don't like it.
Then you head off to the market wards, and an option appears in the menu to summon your retainer. Where you summon the retainer is where they stay. You can exchange items/gil with them as if they were another player, and set up their bazaar as if it were your own. Moving your retainer around is as easy as going to a new ward and summoning the retainer again.
They can be set to dress up in the gear that you place in their bazaar, or they can just wear their preset gear. You can dismiss them at any time, or releive them from service, though I think doing so means you have to take back all their items.
Each retainer can carry as many items as a normal player can. So 100 in the item list, 9999 of each type of shard/crystal/cluster, 10,000,000,000 gil (I think), and 10 bazaar spaces. So with this new update, triple that amount and that's your available space for items (you'll need it).
