After taking forever to upload and send a few image files to a publisher, I decided to do a speed test of my connection:



They even have countries ranked by average connection speed. We're 160th out of 180 countries. Haiti is above us! HAITI!?!

Our telecommunications monopoly still charges Belizeans BZD$100 (US$50) a month for a lousy 128 kb/s connection speed. If you want 512 kb/s, you have to fork out BZD$500 (USD$250), so barely anyone gets it! This has been the same package they've been offering for a decade now. Nothing's changed! But down here, there aren't really any other options.

Boy, I can't wait to get to the UK so I can actually get work done at a normal pace. I read that Bristol averages 8.1 Mbps.

Anyway, I invite you to test your connection speed on speedtest.net and share your results, so you can rub it in about how I'm living in a comparative digital stone age.

The new router my dad got hates my computer (and everything else that connects via wifi), and routinely drops my connection speed, or will disconnect me for hours on end. he refuses to let me replace it.

This is how much of an asshole the router is being right now.

I think according to the Akamai report, Berkeley was one of the fastest cities in the world, but that might have changed.

On a country-wide scale, South Korea is far ahead of everyone else. I guess to cater to the fact that they're all spending their lives in MMORPG's.

Yea, Romania's position was very random to me. But if it's ranked so high, it must mean a significant portion of the population has access to those kinds of speeds.

Maybe they're just gypping you because you're American.
