Re: LISTMANIA 2007: Time's Top 10 Games of the Year
Hrafn, please. Remember when you used to refer to yourself in the third person all the time? Now let's all play nice and talk about our top ten games of the year.
My top ten games of the year are Xenosaga Episode II.
It amazes me when I think about how much a super genius like you could accomplish if you didn't waste all your time posting here.
Keep in mind just because I'm smarter than you doesn't make me a super genius. Though I suppose I won't fight the label if you choose to apply it. But you shouldn't fight a little constructive criticism. And I suppose I can be nice and use smaller words so you are able to keep up. See, if going off-topic is wrong, you actually have to enforce it in every thread where this arises. Not just ones where you personally don't like where it's heading. Keep that little tip in mind for the future.
In any case, going by general press consensus the absence of Uncharted is a conspicuous one, especially with the inclusion of Ace Combat 6. So while this Time list isn't on par with, say, the Spike game awards, it does seem a bit too centered on games whose high profile might exceed their actual quality.

topics routinely flow off-topic. it's the ones that go bad places like the big PS3 debates that we don't want.
Quit telling DK how to do his job. he knows what to do.

Again, you force me to chide you in a derisive manner, Valky. A mere few days ago I accused one of your boys of admitting to bias, which he vehemently denied. Now you come here and admit your staff allows certain threads and posters to circumvent your rules. Now, I think the two of you might want to sit down and work out that minor discrepancy.
Now please, I was trying to direct the conversation back to the original subject. If you aren't interested in that, stop interrupting. I am genuinely curious about whether people think this list was well-informed or just Time including the most publicized games of the year to appeal to game-playing readers.

Re: LISTMANIA 2007: Time's Top 10 Games of the Year
We're going with a top 9 because I've played and enjoyed 13 games that came out this year and the last 4 I can't decide between.
1. Rock Band - I'm a sucker for the Guitar Hero series and the added challenge of drums and vocals (And I DO mean challenge) really seal the deal. I'd be playing this a lot more if my guitar wasn't broken.
2. Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney: Justice For All - What can I say? It is a tight series, it keeps me enraptured until the end, and I've always wanted a successful game about lawyers, that's what I can say.
3. Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of the Lions - One of my top ten games of all time as a kid remade with beautiful cut-scenes and a tight new translation? Sign me up.
4. skate. - Totally brings the skateboarding genre to a new level for me. Where I enjoyed Tony Hawk as a kid doing all of the most ridiculous combos, now I feel like I've gotten older and a newfound appreciation for how hard skating actually is (through doing it, not through skate) and I really like that they made the game a little more realistic.
5. Bioshock - Awesome. I died a lot of times because I was playing on hard, but it was just such a beautiful experience. I didn't even beat it. I just enjoyed what I had played.
6. Catan - Yup, the Live download. The original board game is very fun, but I can't play my pals online. They did a good job recreating the experience, I just wish they didn't add the cheat on placement button.
7. Assassin's Creed - I hate the sci-fi element. It gets repetitive near the end. Yet, it was still very enjoyable. It also helped what with the killer animation with the short sword. I mean that as a pun.
8. Rogue Galaxy - This game is on the list just because of it's mass alone. What a game. It's so full. I could even have enjoyed an insector game in a standalone format.
9. Persona 3 - Challenging, sometimes. That's about all I can even say for the game.

Re: LISTMANIA 2007: Time's Top 10 Games of the Year
I'll do top five, since I haven't played every damn game this year.
1. Mario Galaxy- It was a very tough choice, but this game brought me back to the old days of gaming and made me feel like a kid again. Not to mention its platforming on crack wrapped in bacon. I got all 120 stars today, and game never once lost its magic.
2. Bioshock- This game touched me in ways a game has never touched me before. Just the first few minutes alone..... GAWL I COULD GO ON ALL DAY.
3. skate.- All extreme sports games take note! This is how you take a game to the next level. I feel this is only the beginning. The sequel could be one of the finest games evar.
4. Halo 3- 4 player online co-op and addictive online multiplayer.
5. Mass Effect- A few problems with this title, but overall damn amazing. I'm holding off on the new game plus.
