- I once considered recently giving up on games because of the time they consume. Time I could do other stuff like read books or practice an instrument. Constructive and creative stuff. Then I realized, I'm thinking of doing that only because of what other people think and not for myself. Plus, I should just MAKE time for that kind of stuff ANYWAY. Similarly,
- I don't believe video games will ever reach the acceptance level of films and literature, at least not in our lifetimes. Well. MAYBE. But pfft.
- My friends are finally all home from college and all we did tonight was hang out, play Burnout Revenge, New Super Mario Bros., and splooge about the Wii, Smash Bros. Brawl and MGS4. But mostly Wii. I am REALLY excited about Wii. I tried to pre-order one today but Gamestop's not taking 'em yet. Bastards.
- I am not excited at all about Spore. I've never really played anything Will Wright did for more than 10 minutes maybe.
- I only finished Final Fantasy 7, FF8, FF9, FF10, FFX-2. I played FF1 but never cared to continue. Never played FF2 or FF5. Got horribly stuck in FFTactics. Played and LOVED FFTAdvance for over 80 HOURS... till I lost it. Like an idiot.
FF10 and FF7 are my second and third favorites, respectively. I never beat Final Fantasy 6 but I still and always consider it my top favorite Final Fantasy. I highly anticipate FF6Advance...
- ...Because I beat Final Fantasy 4 Advance a day or two ago and I ended up really enjoying it. And that was my first time playing FF4. At first I couldn't stand how OLD and SLOW it was but once I got in the final stretch building up levels and getting all the best equipment I was sad to see it end... only to see a new dungeon open up! YAYYY
- I started playing Zelda: Minish Cap and MAN is the beginning BORING. Say what you will about the importance of story in a video game but in a Zelda game it just gets in the damn way. I want to EXPLORE not have things EXPLAINED to me. ARRGHH.
- ...Though I do attribute games like Zelda and Secret of Mana got me more interested in reading. Did anyone else know what "telepathy" was in 1992 (1st/2nd grade for me..?!) before playing A Link to the Past?
- I too drew nothing but Chrono Trigger characters in 5th and 6th grade. Then FF7 characters. Chrono Trigger is still my all-time favorite game though I haven't replayed it in a long, long time. Listening to its music the other day however... I should probably pick it up again.
- I never played through more than 5 hours or so of Earthbound. I should probably pick that up again too.
- Pokemon bored me, even back in 1997 when it first came out. Pretty disappointing considering the huge deal it was. Still got up at 6 every morning to watch the cartoon though.

I did, sorta, but I know exactly what you mean. I learned about mitochondria from Parasite Eve, before any science or biology class in school ever taught it to me.
In the first season of battle.net for starcraft, I got up to #2 on the ladder under the name "Nice_Guy_Alzar". All I did was play island maps with Zerg and I maphacked. They fixed maphacking in the middle of the season with a patch and I couldn't win without it. I also remember one time losing to a Terran and going on some message boards complaining it was unfair, only to havev everyone make fun of me and say "Oh no! A Zerg player actually has to micromanage! How unfair!"
Today, I would have hated me as a young teenager on the internet.
I think it's just a marketing gimick to rake in outside fanboys kind of like how Link was in Soul Calibur 2
You forget, the PS2 and Xbox versions also had their own exclusive characters. It's just that Link is instantly more recognizable. It doesn't help that neither Sony nor Microsoft have a real mascot of their own to throw in the game.
I do agree though that he'll seem really out of place.

You need to beat it. The ending rates right up there among the best video game endings ever. The perfect way to end an epic like FF6.
Lessee, I own Dragon Warrior I-III on GBC, Dragon Warrior IV on NES, and Dragon Quest 8. I have owned Dragon Warrior Monsters, DWM2: Tara's Adventure, and DW7 (which I wish to reobtain). I enjoy them all (except DW2), but the only one I've beaten so far is the first one. And I've beaten it more than once.
I liked RPGM1's sample game.
I've never played Katamary Damacy or Earthbound.
I like Majora's Mask better than Ocarina of Time.
"What if like...there was an exact copy of you somewhere, except they're the opposite gender, like you guys could literally have a freaky friday moment and nothing would change. Imagine the best friendship that could be found there."
I watched FF:Advent Children last night before having played FFVII. I spent countless hours on Ogre Battle for the SNES when I discovered a hidden, one-off level you could play by entering a code. I did so, and played it for a while. I went to save my game, and SAVED OVER THE TOP OF the game save that I had spent probably 50 or more hours playing. I never picked that game up again.
I agree with the person who said he has more video games than he'll ever solve, and keeps buying more. I'm the same way. I'll play a few levels of a game, get bored, then buy something else. I subscribe to 3 video game magazines, and I truly think I am more enamored with the IDEA of video games than the games themselves. Sounds weird, but it's pretty true. Only a few games can suck me in and not bore me, one of these being PSO, both for DC and Xbox. The Ogre Battle series never really bored me either. That or the Zelda games.
I began playing FFVII, and it just seemed kind of boring to me. I don't see what the big deal with it is. It's another RPG. Big Deal.
Anyway, enough confessions for now.

You need to travel back in time to experience it fully.

Like Chrono Trigger.
Yup. With both of those games, it's kind of a "you just had to be there" thing. Both of those games were the best thing to have come out during each one's particular release.
I used to never trade in games, but with money being really tight this year, I've had to. but I only trade in games that I know I'll easily be able to get back later. anything even slightly hard to find stays with me forever.
When I was in 4th grade, my parents pawned all my games and systems for cigarette money since at the time my dad was unable to work. I had an SNES and Sega Genesis.
For the SNES I lost:
-Super Mario World
-TMNT IV: Turtles in Time
-Top Gear
-FF IV
-FZero
-FF VI
-UN Squadron
-Shadowrun
-Paperboy III
-The 7th Saga
For the Sega Genesis I lost:
-Shadowrun
-Sonic the Hedgehog
-Dungeons and Dragons
-Race Drivin
-Shining Force
-Phantasy Star II
-Phantasy Star III
-Terminator II: The Arcade Game
-Outlander
-XMen
-Desert Strike
-Jungle Strike
-Shining in the Darkness
and a Game Genie.
Some of these games are worth a lot of money today, and Dungeons and Dragons is impossible to find. Anywhere.
