Re: Project Cafe aka Wii 2

A six-inch touchscreen? That's quite a large amount of space on a controller. Heck, it's bigger than the screen on a PSP. Not a lot of room to put buttons on the thing, unless they make it as big as an Xbox giant controller, or map the buttons onto the screen itself.

Re: Project Cafe aka Wii 2

Since Nintendo announced that they will be debuting their next console at E3 for a 2012 release we know at least some of the rumors are true but who knows how much.

      - Some supposed images have surfaced but nothing that seems particularly credible.
      - Some sources are calling it Stream
      - one Swedish site calls it Feel and says the controller touchscreen has haptic feedback that gives the feel of different textures depending what you're touching
      - 8 GB flash storage built in, SD card support
      - res may top at 1080i instead of 1080p
      - 25GB discs, same as single-layer Blu-Ray but may be proprietary format
      - $350 - 400 price expected

Between 3/DS/i/XL, NGP, and this; not to mention smartphones and tablets; it seems gaming is all about touchscreens now. I wonder if the next Sony and MS consoles will use them in some way. Touchscreens and cameras but PS3 and 360 are already using cameras.

Whatever Nintendo does, Sony and Microsoft will rip it off.

This both scares and excites me at the same time.

Haptic feedback sounds a hell of a lot better than wagglin'. Rhythm games, racing, investigative puzzles, arcade fighters, mini-games like Mass Effect's resource mining, tennis, golf... the potential applications of that are insanely diverse.

I haven't bought a Nintendo console since the SNES, but that might do it. Although, I'd probably wait a year or two for the delayed roll-out of games.

                        Since when was THAT possible?

We're not talking about force-feedback, though. We're talking about like if you rub a wood block onscreen, it feels rough, and if it's a plastic block, it feels smooth. Unless this "haptic feedback" actually is force-feedback and all that happens when you rub a wood block onscreen is the controller vibrates.

And Mario Galaxy, Mario Galaxy 2, Twilight Princess, DKCR, etc..

Just get Twilight Princess for the GC if you got one, probably much cheaper and it's the exact game. Well, minus the fact that the GC/Wii versions maps are mirror version according to my strategy guide.

And Mario Galaxy wasn't anything special, it sure wasn't no Super Mario 64!
