I dunno, Mud Slap owned me in the old days, which I don't think he has in SS, so it was a cakewalk. Now Bugsy was a pushover for me last time, but he's gotten quite a bit better since then.

power leveling my Onix (which the loser npc who traded it to me named Rocky wtf) for the first gym leader. current team is:

Chikorita (lvl. 11)
Pidgey (lvl. 12)
Butterfree (lvl. 11)
Onix (lvl. 7)

edit: took on Falkner and had a little trouble when my Onix leveled to up to 11 in battle and then WOULDN'T LISTEN TO ME FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUU

but everything turned out okay! what hatches from this egg I got? is it Togepi? :3

I stopped playing the last Pokemon because there's essentially no story. Should I avoid this one as well?

With the story's revisions, it's got about as much story as Platinum, which is a bit more than Diamond and Pearl.

In any case, if you absolutely must have a poignant story, you're looking at the wrong series. The appeal is mostly in the social aspect of the games, plus building a cool team.

Also that Egg does have a Togepi. Unlike in GS, this one starts out with a powerful Psychic attack.

I'm going to tape mine to my Dremel. It will either work great, or be destroyed in seconds. Better wear eye protection.

Barring that, I want to open it up and hack the electronics.

Sometime later I'm gonna toss a baby Skarmory into my 'walker to bring it up to speed with the rest of the team in time for the fourth gym.

I had my mom save my cash and she had a whole bunch of Payapa berries, which weaken super effective Psychic attacks, delivered to the nearest Pokemart. I'm keen on seeing what else she gives.
