Yup. Training up a Vega now. The power went off and I lost all 8-some-odd hours of training him. *sigh* I wish there was a regular save-option that didn't penalize you if your game shuts off.

But WHATEVER. Guess I will just make him better than before. After all he battled in the tournies, 1 knock-out made him injured for 4-5 weeks.

Why not just quit and continue from the title screen?

So I'm a little confused with how the ? Sub Breed thing is working in this game. I managed to combine a number of monsters to produce monsters with the ? Sub Breed that wind up looking to be a light blue to blue gradient and I don't like that at all.

That's not really how the ? sub breeds all are, is it?

        Don't copy that floppy!

          Because I didn't think ahead.

Anyhow, I remade him, now he's not just Int/Ski one hit wonder, but actually has Speed to avoid getting steamrolled. A little bit. AI seem to hit even with a 12% chance to hit.

His life and defense suck, soooo.

          Ya.

Combine the ? sub with another main breed. You get a really nice unique one.

            Re: Monster Rancher DS

            Good times just happened.

            I combined this:

            Kwagwar Rank A
            Hornie (Suezo/Tiger)
            Potential: Sun
            Pow: 265
            Int: 857
            Ski: 612
            Spd: 553
            Def: 474
            Lif: 322

            With this:

            Groucho Rank A
            Eggplantern (Beaclon/?)
            Potential: Galaxy
            Pow: 999
            Int: 184
            Ski: 626
            Spd: 534
            Def: 278
            Lif: 724

            And got this:

            Bugface
            Eyebee (Suezo/Beaclon)
            Potential: Universe
            Pow: 340
            Int: 349
            Ski: 377
            Spd: 304
            Def: 244
            Lif: 318

Kwagwar was my first-ish monster. By first-ish, I mean he's technically my second; He had a lot of trouble early in his life when I shrined him at the start of the game, so about eight months into his life I combined him with a fresh book monster I had in the freezer and the result was Sun rank Hornie with pretty decent starting stats. He would've turned out so much better had I raised the other monster for a bit, but I needed cash pretty bad (I have a bad habit of using items very early in the game instead of making some cash first). I froze him to raise some other monsters some months into his prime and thawed him out when I had better equipment and more money. I think he turned out pretty well, all things considered.

I had intended for Groucho to be an Errantry monster to help me make some fast cash, but he grew on me so I started raising him proper. He did make me plenty of cash, though! Not to mention he unlocked nearly half of the game's monsters for me, plus I never got around to raising one in MR2. I ended up splurging on him a little, but by the end of his life I had over 200,000G.

In the freezer I have a fresh 2nd gen Daina (Pixie/Dragon) called Corn Cakes, which I'll raise after Bugface for combining. I'm hoping she'll get the Warrior Spirit breeding talent sometime during her life, since it not only improves the gains for all stats, it also reduces stress and fatigue. It can also be obtained by combining monsters with a Pixie Slate obtained from the S Rank Pixie Battle Royal, but I want to get one o' them Suezo Slates so I can send my next Suezo into Overdrive and break the 999 stat cap.

It's back to the ranch for me! Eyeball thing wants attention!

              Re: Monster Rancher DS

I have a monster with 999 in ski and around 975 in INT and Speed. Hwoever he's old as dirt now so I need to actually start combining monsters. However my only other monster that is near those stats is around 750 in each. So I am training up another dragon and going to try my best to get 999 in 3 stats before I combine.
