    Re: Monster Rancher DS

Errantry is a fantastic place to make some cash, particularly in the Kalaragi jungle, where you can easily find Gold and Platinum, which sell for 10,000G and 30,000G respectively. The trick is to aim for the red crystals. You may run into wild monsters, however, so be careful.

You can also unlock some monsters on these adventures; the yellow crystals trigger special events which trigger the unlocking (most require you to find at least a few of them). While most of them require you to hit Rank B first, you can get Beaclon (back to the MR2 spelling) at the beach as soon as you have access to it. Just remember to grab the red crystal directly north of the starting point, then head for the coastline on the southwest part of the map. He only appears during the summer months.

Can you only raise one monster at a time? How do I get a bigger ranch to house bigger monsters?

Despite being new to this series and having to feel my way around it, it's quite a bit of fun.

Only one monster at a time.

To get a bigger stable, be at your ranch (not in drill) on the first week of October. A dude will come to upgrade your house and ranch. The upgrade prices are something like 2000/5000/12000 iirc.

Yeah, i think only MR4 let you train more than one monster at a time, i havent played Evo in a long time, so i cant remember if it let you train more than one. Within the concept of the game, it kinda makes sense.

Okay the money you spend on those romps across a board is well worth it. I cant remember what it is called (not Errantry), but I got my first monster from a little over 100 str(attack, whatever it is called), to over 250 in just 2 trips there. Kills almost everything in one hit in E class (got 3 weeks in game until i go for the tournament to upgrade to D class.

I'm enjoying it very much so far, thanks RPGD!

Made it to B class before I had to freeze my poor... whatever it was. The Tiger/Anubis? Not sure what his sub-type is. Can't wait to start on my second one and combine him with something. I pretty much just concentrated on POW/SKI with a little bit of speed and 1-shot or 2-shot everything in sight by spamming Somersault as it had an 81-94% chance of hitting, anything below that always seems to fail for me but work for the AI

Okay, why is Errantry so damn random? My monster would almost never go in the direction i wanted him to, it is frustrating as hell. Is there a way to get him to listen more?

They'll listen to you a lot more when their loyalty and wits are very high. Just avoid having the wits too high, or it'll get snippy and start cheating or ignoring you; the worm fungus should fix that.

Protip: whenever you beat the dragon tournament and get the magic spell method, use the word "Annie" to get a dragon/naga that excretes bad-ass from it's pores and can win the Rank D Official Tournament (as in, become rank C) from it's first week of life.

You think that's good? Try combining any secret breed with a Dragon as the main. The results are staggering!

Right now I just beat the Rising Dragon with my Abyssal/whatever the white thing is. I kinda wish legend cup had MRDS monsters up so I could remember them better.

He's at rank A but any more training will outright kill him (had to save-scum, better to have lower combo stats then a dead monster). So I am keeping him on ice and raising a Chaos Dragon between tournies so I can get him at least to S.

Kinda funny, I put in PAVILN (no I and O wouldn't fit) and I got a Dragon/Dragon. Oddly I put in FATHER and got a Technodragon and MOTHER got me a an evil Tiger that wants to kill everyone to death.

I hate the -esque monsters. Are they supposed to be any good? It was kinda dissapointing that Combining certain things didn't have any result but -esque monsters.

EDIT: After reading GameFAQs there, I may try for a Vega now that I know what esque monsters are good for.

The -Ish monsters are basically the game's way of making fun of you when you try to create a combo that doesn't exist; but if you combine its subtype with any other breed, you'll get one of the breed's secret monsters. This applies to all ? subspecies.
