Re: Silent Hill: Shattered Memories: The last thing we needed

Coming up next: more arguing about Silent Hill 2's box :V

WHY ARE THE PC AND XBOX ONES A SEPIA TONE INSTEAD OF GREEN?

Oh, great, so the vBulletin time skips erased my post where I told you all to play Shattered Memories.

Just wanted to tell you that my opinion remains the same.

        Good night.

*Sigh* I don't know what to say about this game....

I loved the beginning half...The usage of the Echos adding mystery and depth. The immersion....(Hell, even though the ending broke my heart a bit, I admired the twist.)

Then it was like the thing crapped out in the middle. Like they decided to take a cheap, David Lynch-y way out....

I ended up accidentally erasing my game when I was halfway through, sat down, started from the high school again, and finished the whole thing in three hours. Am I the only one who thinks it was too short?

*Sigh* I had such hope for this game...

I'd actually like to know when you think it crapped out. Spoiler tags plz.

A friend of mine who backseat gamed with me said that it was the game that Indigo Prophecy was supposed to be. And then I was like, Yeah.

I took the backseat through it with a friend of mine two days ago. It's amazing all the little things that change from game to game.

Okay, so I'm in the high school. Where's that ****ing gymnasium? Things in spoiler tags aren't exactly spoilers--at all. Just marked for people who might want to go into it blindly. I refuse to use a FAQs because I don't want to know how much more game is ahead of me or possibly get something ruined--because that's happened to virtually every Silent Hill game for me.

                  *** SPOILERS ***
I tried piecing together the silhouettes next to the Harry Mason art show, but the number I *think* I see gets me nothing. I don't see any keys around. Am I on the right track?
                  *** END SPOILERS ***

I really love how "organic" the game feels. No menus or health drinks or ammo or convoluted inventory systems--it's clean and immersive. You can get a lot from the game's world just by LOOKING, but I don't yet understand the importance of collecting mementos. I keep thinking back to Nixon's original jab at the game about how Harry goes through Silent Hill with his crappy iPhone clone, but it really does work quite well.

                  *** SPOILERS ***
I'm not entirely sure how much I like how segmented the gameplay sections feels. You explore the town, and then **** gets all icy and then you have to run until you find your way out. You are completely safe in Silent Hill when things aren't frozen over, so there's never any looming threat hovering over your head. There is no fear, so far. Or maybe I'm desensitized? I like what I see so far, but I already see a few things I would've liked to have been handled differently. Such is life.

Did you change the figures to match the drawing exactly? Be sure to see if there's other stuff you can move, too. You'll definitely find it. That's like my favorite puzzle.

And, yeah, the smartphone is brilliant. There are so few transitions in this game, it's like you're always in control.

Our newspaper had a big article about what a disappointment Silent Hill: Shattered Memories is. Everyone saw it.

Your newspaper had a big article about a nearly below the radar videogame? Must've been a hell of a slow news day. Our newspaper had an article about the launch of Modern Warfare 2 but aside from big events like that they're too busy talking about our cheating governor or the economy.
I want that Mulan McNugget sauce, Morty!

Its not a Silent Hill game in the traditional means by any stretch. So if you want health vials and sloppy combat and death looming around every corner you could walk in disappointed, sure.

As it stands, for me, I welcome this direction. Its a very compelling game and even moreso if you have memories of the original.

I think even John Mora might like this considering how much he`s looking forward to Heavy Rain.

                                tl;dr Buy it *******.
