I think the rumble system of that patent is different than the system Nintendo used in their rumble pak. And that Nintendo bought rights to use the patent when they used it in the GameCube controllers.

Well if sony loses the case a lot of us are screwed since i know some Strategy RPG's use the Dual Shock controller.

And tha'ts going to suck.

I agree with Blaze, and going further I would say that Sony will just appeal the case as many times as it will take for them to release the PS3 and the PS3 controller, and at that time they won't need the dual shock model any further because of the new PS3 controller, and then drop the dual shock all together.

The thing is, how vastly different will the PS3 controller be that they won't be violating the same ridiculously vague patent?

I don't think so. All Sony has to do is make it look different, and use different parts, and it will be seperate enough by law to avoid royalties. At least I think, anyway.
