As some people know, for the past two years, I've worked at a daycare place. Yesterday a new kid joined the crew. he's 7, and not in school. He's somewhat new to the US (his family moved from some african country a few months ago) and doesnt speak english too well. this will be about him. He's my new favorite.
Today we had some different animals there, to teach the kids about.
First up, we had a sugar glider. the kids really loved the thing, although it was freaking out the entire time. When the kids drew pictures of it later, one kid drew it in a tuxedo with a stove-pipe hat. I thought that was pretty cool.
The other animals (snake, iguana, rabbit, mouse) were pretty uneventful.
Then we had a guinea pig. of all the things to get a strange reaction, this was it. the new kid started screaming and shouting "Skak Bons" the second the cage was put on the table. he ran to the back of the room, still shouting "Skak Bons" until we got the guinea pig out of there. he was shaking, and covered in a cold sweat. I swear, he genuinely feared for his life.
Best morning ever.
