Huh. That video actually makes Obi-Wan's "high ground" quote make sense.

Also, anyone who wonders why the prequels aren't as good as the original trilogy should take a look at this. Snagged it from the Holiday Special topic:

Yeah, but that was different. Obi-Wan was aware of the "immortality secret" mentioned by Yoda (Luca's way of making sure the "jedi ghosts" had some continuity). I'm pretty sure Maul (a sith) wasn't aware of this "secret". Plus, Maul was out to destroy them without mercy. I believe Obi-Wan foresaw that he was going to die and accepted that this was the only way he could really "train" Luke after fighting Vader again. Maul just stood there dumfounded like "I can't believe he did that!" but as graceful as Maul was, you'd think he'd attack, like Obi-Wan did in III with a horizontal slash or something (hey, he could have missed, okay? But it would have made it a bit more interesting than him just taking it )

I think the prequels were good films in their own right, but nothing on A New Hope or Empire Strike Back, by my vote. And I always thought Obi-Wan was the **** in Star Wars And one of the only things I really loved in II was the bit with Anakin and the Sandpeople...I was like "YEAH!"...I thought that was awesome as that was one of the few times Hayden didn't go over the top with all the damn crying. I mean, yeah, he was in pain but...he overdid it.

I might be more likely to forgive how bad 1 through 3 (especially three) were if they even FIT WITH THE ORIGINAL THREE! There are too many things to name that are completely inconsistent.

Way to not keep track of your kayfabe, Lucas.

I popped a vien in my eyeball recently when I was watching Return of the Jedi on SPIKE and it was a newer version of the movie. All the terrible CGI **** added in, and then the big cherry on top of the sundae made of feces right at the end where they ****ing swapped out original old Anakins ghost for stupid emo Anakin from the prequals.

That s***ty assed s*** version's been out more than a decade now. My widescreen VHS box set was stolen, so I bought that s***ty assed s*** version of those films as a box set when they were released on DVD, as that was all that was available on DVD at the time. Of course, a few years later, they released double disc versions of all three movies with both versions.

I'm not gonna get suckered in again.

                  I forgot to post this.

This is like DM of the Rings, only about Star Wars. While decent in its own right as a webcomic, the annotations after each page are highly amusing and reflect very poorly on the creative decisions or lack thereof in dealing with the new Star Stars trilogy. It's pretty great reading even if you don't highly enjoy the comic. Figured it fit right in with this topic.

Re: Funny thing in Star Wars that I never noticed before.

Much as I didn't like that change, it made sense to me. To those new to the series, it would have looked stupid I think to have two different looking Anakins. Considering that he was (I'm guessing) roughly twenty years old before he "turned" and the Anakin in the original looked a lot older and the hair didn't match at all either. While that Anakin was akin to the unmasked Vader on the same film, I think Lucas made this change to dumb it down for the people getting in on the new trilogy (people new to the series).

You see, it would be hard to...sell that "This guy standing beside Yoda and Obi-Wan is Anakin Skywalker, even though you don't see him look anything like that ever and.. not to mention, he looks completely different in the prequels and doesn't appear to age anywhere close to the Anakin depicted in the original ending..." So instead of that, I'm guessing, he would rather just get Hayden to dress up in the same robe and stand there, shut up and smile (for once). Again, I think it was just a way of dumbing it down. That made sense even though I didn't really like the change myself because I'm used to the way the old film was. I also noticed that the Hayden version of Anakin seems to have a delay in his appearance but it has been a while since I've seen the original, unedited version of Return of the Jedi. Some of the changes and additions I didn't mind much. But a few of them ****** me off.

Like the Han-Greedo edit in IV, that was complete bull****.

*waits for a mod to remove the picture*

Well. Why is he suddenly 20 (or whatever luke was) years younger as a "ghost" when Obi is still old?

It's just lucas still trying to shove the "new" trilogy down people's throats.

                      Or maybe somplace else...

My guess as a weak way of justifying it, Anakin was that age before he turned to the Dark Side. As a way of saying he was around 20ish when he was still somewhat a servant of the Light. I dunno. And yeah, comparatively, Anakin's (new) ghost is about the same age as Luke. It's kind of on the lame side. I didn't care for it much. Again, I didn't mind that edit as much as I did with others. That and the new trilogy would have been ten times better without that stupid Gungan.

I dunno, Jedi ghosts are pretty dumb if you're over the age of 12!

If the CGI thing weren't bad enough...I hear that some of the post-old-trilogy novels butcher the franchise. I never read any of them though. I love Star Wars and all, but I still can't see myself reading any SW books. Though after recently watching Fanboys, I'm able to laugh at myself as a Star Wars fan.
