I didn't even think about that! Bus rides would be so much more productive!

I had to go 360 obviously, even though the PS3 has an advantage with its web browser to download games directly to the console.

But if a 360 version made use of the USB drive to transfer game saves to and from a memory card or HDD, it'd be no problem.

Re: Time to send a message to Enterbrain.

Jeroak, you may not know this, but it is 100% impossible to download saves to the PSP or PS3 directly from their browsers.

I would personally prefer to see one on the PSP. development costs are not that bad, and USB-connectivity makes it very easy to move saves to and from a PC even if you don't have a memory stick reader. The PSP also has more quality RPGs than the DS, which would make an RPG creation tool feel right at home on the system. Megaman Powered Up lets people share their custom stages with people all around the world right through the software, without ever touching the browser. RPG Maker could do this too. The US has never had a portable RPG Maker before, and the PSP would be the best choice to finally give us one for all these reasons.

I do not believe it would even be possible for it to be on the DS. there is no SAFE way to backup and trade DS saves (every tool released that does this has a high risk of ruining the game card), and there is no internal storage.

I would not like to see it on the 360. in addition to being ignored in japan, it's not very easy to backup your saves, which is pretty important with RPG Maker, so game trading would rely on Xbox Live. Which would hurt the online communities, and ensure that most creations would be lost forever if the Xbox platform ever went "bye bye", or if all 360 data is removed from the network when the next system from microsoft came out. It's a possibility that scares me quite a bit. if it cannot be easily backed up, the longevity of our creations would be in the hands of microsoft alone. I don't feel comfortable entrusting anyone but myself to making sure my data is preserved.

I do not believe it's possible for it to be on the PS3. The development costs are very high, and I doubt enterbrain has recovered from the PC RPGM piracy enough to take that kind of financial risk. Maybe in a few years once hopefully increased sales of the system would make it less risky.

Wii and PS2 are my secondary picks. The Wii has an easy way of backing up and trading saves, through the SD card slot. With Elebits, you are able to send user-created material to other users right through the messaging feature. this could be done with RPG Maker as well, just for the hell of it. The PS2 is an established and successful platform for the RPG Maker series. We have mastered game distribution on the platform, and they never did push the system as far as they could with any RPG Maker software. Every active RPG Maker user has the ability to play PS2 software, either through the PS2 itself, or a PS3. Releasing it on the PS2 would not require any of us to buy a new system, so the attach rate would be very high.

Ah, no direct downloading then? Still the USB option though.

Re: Time to send a message to Enterbrain.

            Ok, why I think Wii.
            1. The youtube video posted above, I know this isn't supposed to be a "what features would you like" topic, however having that type of freedom and having it not be painfully hard to do Makes me think it would be perfect for a RPG Maker Game
            2. Wii has the most consoles out there (besides the handhelds). This may change but Japan, United States, and Europe I believe have higer Wii hardware sales than the other two in thier respective areas.
            3. SD card support would allow easy transfer of game saves.
            4. Not unique to Wii, but it does have USB support as well.
            5. As with PS3 there have been less hardware errors than the 360.
            6. Games are generally cheaper to develop on the Wii. Making it so the little part of Enterbrain that does RPGM has more to its budget
            7. Wiimote support sounds like a substitute for a mouse, also the fast that you can revert to an old style setup if you wish (turning it sideways)
            8. Not unique to Wii, online support.
            9. WiiConnect24, if need be let's Enterbrain update the software.
            10. If they decided to use the same kind of way Elebits did they may just be able to send games directly to other Wiis as an optional way of sending.

All I can think of now.

Re: Time to send a message to Enterbrain.

                  I voted PS3.

It's a system I don't even have, but I value the "Backwards Compatibility" factor for the older makers, and sales would be lousy on thePS2.

That may be enough to get me to buy a PS3, but not enough to get me to buy another manufacturer's hardware. I'd have no other games for it!! I'd have to be much better off financially at the time of release to even consider that...

                  ...

                  MOO!

Xbox 360 seems like the logical pick to me.

Hell, it would even be great as a Live Arcade download.

Re: Time to send a message to Enterbrain.

I would really love for it to be released for the PS2, but that seems a little "pie in the sky" because since that is now a previous gen system, it doesn't seem to make as much sense.

My vote, therefore, is for PS3. I don't own a PS3 yet, but here are my reasons for voting for it.

                      1) Users of RPG Maker 1, RPG Maker 2, RPG Maker 3 could still play those games on the same system that now supports RPG Maker 4.

                      2) The "Virtual Memory Card" option on that system seems to be perfect for this kind of game.

                      3) The hard drive support could really be put to good use (finally!)

                      4) New/updated downloadable content could be made available with updated tilesets and characters.

                      Well, here's hoping...

Re: Time to send a message to Enterbrain.

                        It's a tough choice.

The PS2 is a tried and true system, and a couple games are still being released for it now and then.

The 360 would have been my first, but we have Enterbrain itself to consider, and from what I've heard 360 sales aren't too high in Japan.

The DS and the Wii both are my main choices, one having the stilus, the other the Wiimote for ingenuity. One has portability on its side, the other, graphics power.

PSP would be cool, Just simply because you can work on the RPG whenever you want. Plus I don't have PS3, Wii, and Xbox.

Man, that's bad. I don't have any of the two consoles that are ahead right now.

I vote ps2, but I think it would fare well on any system. I wouldn't mind seeing it on all systems, that way everyone can buy a copy.
