I'm sorry, but they just started all this Christmas crap at work (secret santa, bring in goodies, ...) and I'm once again reminded of how much I hate all the BS this time of the year brings.
First, I hate the commercial side, from Hallmark to Sears to Wal-mart. I don't think I have to say much else, and I'm sure most people agree with this.
Second, I hate the history of the holiday. I went out of my way a few years ago to read all up on this "holy day" and it just made me sick. It was a seasonal pagan sun god celebration that got 'christianized' by the RC church (along with the pagans), and for some reason the protestants (against Calvin's and Luther's [i think] advice), kept it (even though they got rid of all other holy days [except the Sabbath, of course]). Then America resecularized it. uhh uhh uhh. No matter how religious or irreligious you are, I don't understand how you justify celebrating this hog-wash holiday. And if you celebrate it just because you like how it brings families together, then I'm sure you can find another way to be with your family that doesn't include all the christmas garbage. Ok, I'm getting far off-track now. You can see how emotional this is for me.
Anyways, just about every part of christmas makes me puke. I hate how incinsere people become. I hate faking it. I hate giving gifts. I hate receiving gifts. I stay away from it as much as I can, but because of certain obligations (work, in-laws), I am forced to participate a bit.
Am I the only one who feels this way?
...maybe I'm just biased cause my birthday is the 29th and has always been eclipsed by the big 24-25-31 combination.
