Somewhere amongst all the killing and flesh-eating, we forgot about the love
Re: Somewhere amongst all the killing and flesh-eating, we forgot about the love
please hollywood, stop with the remakes edited for a pg13 rating to allow for a bigger audience and more potential at money...they're horrible and totally ruin the image of the original.
[though the 90s remake of Night of the Living Dead with Tony Todd was pretty good]

You've obviously not heard of Romero's next upcoming PG-13 movie cleverly called:
"LAND OF THE DEAD"

Well.. I guess zombie movies never get old...
The next thing will be a movie where a SWAT team will go in and kill a lot of zombies in this secret base... Oh wait.. DOOM: The Movie is doing that...
Re: Somewhere amongst all the killing and flesh-eating, we forgot about the love
Read the 1954 novella I Am Legend by Richard Matheson, which Romero co-writer John Russo acknowledge directly inspired the original's script.
It's a classic of horror; almost everything we know about modern undead horror has strong roots in this book, as Matheson uniquely placed creatures previously only found in myth and literary Gothic castles into modern urban settings. The main character, Robert Neville, is the last human survivor on a earth circa 1976, as everyone else has been turned into a blood-sucking vampires by a plague. Now he hunts them down hoard by hoard!

I hate when zombie movies are watered down in content without anything to make up for it.
Personally, I think zombie movies should be so graphically-depicted that they achieve an X rating, without even needing to resort to pornography and the like. So much impact could be made from this combined with the clever use of suspense, psychology, sociology, and CHAINSAWS. I have a place in my heart for watching packs of zombies literally shred a person to pieces, and especially movies where the zombies 'win'.

Robocop achieved that rating, before it was butchered for consumption. Trust me, it's possible, and when people do it it becoems an absolute work of art.

Directors cuts? People do see it.
I think artists should quit being wussies and releasing their work as is, just to spite the Liebermans and Clintons out there and flat out defy any fines. They may not make money so much with this method, but they'd certainly get to make their work the way they want it...
