All Ye Who knows MP3 Players...

I don't have one, but my mother got a little sony one so she can listen to her books on CD without having to lug a diskman around and having to change every other disk. Right now she is using a free-trial of Rapsody to rip the files from the CD and transfer them onto the MP3 Player. (These are legal copies, BTW, so the thread is okay, right?) The problem is that she doesn't want to keep Rapsody, but wants a program that will allow her to move the tracks from the CD to the MP2 Player without any fuss, something that will be pretty point and click, keeping the tracks in the right order, and is EASY and FREE. She doesn't want to pay the 15 bucks a month to use Rapsody. Plus We are talking about a 50 year old woman handling a computer for more then just word processing.

    Any help on this?

Creative Nano MP3 players have a input (and required cord) where you can plug in the cd player, hit play, and it will record directly onto the MP3 player, which can also be transfered to computer.

They cost 80 dollars for a gig, come in multiple colors, have built in voice recording and FM radio.

It's not the MP3 player I'm looking for, it's mainly a program. My mom has it figured out for the moment, but I'm not sure what to look for once her free trial with Rapsody is over. That's what I'm asking about.

      Thanks for the help tho.

Windows Media Player then, I'm pretty sure it will do it no problem.

They normally automatically sync with any MP3 player, and you can just drag and drop onto the sync list whatever you want.

Can you get ITunes without having an IPod?

You can. But I personally don't like it. I know a lot of people who use it who would never get an ipod though.

ITunes is terrible, has memory leaks, and doesn't have an uninstall program.

Itunes is nice, especially with the ipod synch. But the memory leaks have caused several blue screens in the past.

Hey, Az, not that hard to uninstall.:

I prefer iTunes over any other media player. I couldn't stand using Winamp for that short period of time I had to.

I use Itunes and I have had no problems with it. I use an Ipod so it obviously works nicely with it. Plus there are some cool features with it.

Its cool to browse your record collection with the pictures of the cover art.

Just use windows media player. It should be on your computer if Windows is your computer's OS.

Just use the rip feature to copy the tracks from the cd onto your computer. You can then treat the tracks that are copied to your computer as any other file (rename, edit, cut, copy, paste, etc)

Then browse to the folder where your music is copied to (should be under "my documents>My Music" by default), highlight the tracks, and move them over to your MP3 (assuming it's plugged in via a USB port and is registering as a valid drive on your PC).

Once they are on the MP3 player, arrange them however you choose to or however is allowed by the external device.

I'll try and have my mom do that. I think she tried before but had some sort of issue.

I think it has something to do with the order of the tracks or something. I'll ask tonight.

Don't you dare use iTunes. It doesn't shuffle through my songs when I tell it to, it freezes my comp and it raped the organization of my song library.
