    Away longer than online?

Was browsing my friends list on AIM checking people and I noticed something odd about one person...

How in the HELL is that possible? (Blown up to 2x, since 1x was kinda small)

He/She/It leaves their comp on all night, and logged on to the service, while they sleep. Plus of course, they put themselves as Away.

this person, like a stupid amount of people do these days, keep their computers on but dont use them. i know how much of a pain it is to get ahold of people like that cause you never know if their there or not.

Thank you Ωbright for the sig fix!

Keeping your computer on all the time is not stupid.
Shutting it down and powering it up repeatedly is worse on it than leaving it on.

I think I turn my comp off like once a week.

Anyhow, I guess her internet connection probably signed off and on real fast while she was away.

I don't really see the point of keeping my computer on while I'm sleeping or not home.

I think most of you missed what I was referring to (except Caciss).

I'm not talking about the time being several hours. I'm talking about how his Online time is only 4 hours, but his away time was almost 20 hours. It's basically saying he signed on... 16 hours after he put his away message up. Which makes no sense

But it was probably an internet service flicker, he had auto-reconnect on and he d/c'd around the 16 hour mark. Didn't think of that.

Ask if he uses gaim. Gaim has actually an option for you to set how long you've been idle :P

I turn my computer off every night. Sometimes during storms, though I'll probably rely on my power surge protector.

There's still a chance of your comp getting damaged during a storm though.

I just don't shut my comp off, because I don't want to. I'm too lazy.

all you have to do is press the windows key, then "u" twice. it takes less than a second.

That happens to me too. My wireless connection will get disconecting while I'm not here, so I'll still have been idle for so long, but I get reconected automatically without touching the computer at all. Or its just buggy.

That dude probably wastes ~$100 of electricity a year keeping that computer on all the time.
