Help me settle a dispute.
The other night, my friend and I were having a discussion about 2D fighting games. The two of us are fighting game fanatics and have been playing them for years. We're not professionals, but we have fun just beating each other senseless. However, the similarities end there. Because the moment Street Fighter and King of Fighters came into mind, chaos erupted. We've both played a lot of 2D fighting games since Street Fighter II, but both Street Fighter and King of Fighters have nabbed much of our attention.
Amidst our discussion, which later grew quite heated, I told my friend that Street Fighter is the most balanced of the games, and had it not been for it, King of Fighters would probably have not existed. My friend argues that King of Fighters delivers a more diverse cast of characters, the option to edit teams, and just basically more depth. We could have settled this argument by playing a fighting game, but between Street Fighter and King of Fighters, we were deadlocked. The irony of it is that I would have beaten him in Street Fighter, and he would have beaten me in King of Fighters. This is due to the fact that both of us have played one game more than the other.
The two of us are vastly familiar with SF and KoF because they're the most recognized of the 2D fighters. (At least, I think so.)
I told my friend about my association with the Pavilion, and he suggested I ask the people there what they think, between Street Fighter and King of Fighters, which of the 2D fighting games is better, and why they think so. Or if they so desired, what 2D fighting game other than SF or KoF could knock both of them out of the squared circle?Could Ryu defeat Kyo? Is Chun Li more beautiful than Mai Shiranui? Is it possible for Joe Higashi to win a fight against Adon or Sagat?
I leave the forum to you all. Hopefully, my friend and I will finally settle this argument at long last, and we need your help. Tell me.....
....which is better? Street Fighter or King of Fighters?
