Your top songs of 2005

How well you like a song can be judged by how often you feel you'll skip to the next track if the song in questions pops up in your playlist. That being said, here are my songs that I'd never dream of skipping.

4. Such Great Heights - The Postal Service (Click for preview)
Found this song on iTunes. Never heard of the band before, but I found myself listening to it over and over.

3. Holiday - Green Day (Click for preview)
Boulevard of Brokes Dreams my butt, this is the best song on that album.

2. Next Exit - Interpol (Click for preview)
The very good opening track from a very good album.

1. El Manana - Gorillaz (Click for preview)
It's weird, I dont understand what half the words are, but I'll be damned if this isn't an amazing song. I found the lyrics online once, and I dont recall them making a lick of sense, so maybe it makes sense that I couldn't figure them out, but that's ok. This song just sounds so great I couldn't hold anything against it.

For fun, I'll throw out a couple more songs that, while not from 2005, are still my constant favorites.

I'll go out on a limb and name Good Ridance as probably my favorite song of all time. Franz Ferdinand gets the "Oh my god this was the greatest song of all time but then I heard it too much and now I kinda only like it a little" award for Take Me Out. Madonna gets the "I'll never admit to liking this song" award for Hung Up. Shut up, it has a good beat.

Im not even really sure what came out this year.

Time to Honor Ghouls-By 20 Minute Loop Is one of my favorite songs, and definatly my favorite halloween song. It came out this year I know that for sure.

Landed-By Ben Folds. A really wonderful song. Great lyrics. Ben Folds is a genius.

Miranda That Ghost just Isnt Holy Anymore-Pour another Icepick by the Mars Volta. I love the little speech he gives in that weird voice. very spooky. Great lyrics. Some great imagery to. Gives me goosebumps.

Twilight-by The mobius Band. Catchy tune. I compare them as a combo of the Strokes, for its vocals, and the synth rockiness of something like Postal Service.

Thats pretty much it for me.


Most everything else i listen to didnt come out this year. If anybody wants any of these songs Id be more than happy to send them.

I really only have two because the albums that came out this year that I was really looking foward too, all disapointed me.

Nine inch nails- The Hand that feeds
While this album is probably his worst work, this is a great song nonetheless.

Thrice- The Earth will shake
Thrice's Vhessiu was my favorite album of the year, and this was the best song on it.

I like Next Exit and El Manana too. However I have no idea what came out this year so I will end my post

Actually I like Bedouin Soundclash's CD and I think that came out this year. So that's a thumbs up

I can't help but think that the only thing on your (Ryner's) list that is actually from 2005 is Demon Days.
Unless you knew that and it was a joke.
