I figure most of you giveaway peoples managed to get in some decent playtime, so why don't you tell us about your monsters and/or their progress so far? You can also post stats and such if you wish.

Heck, if anyone else has played the series before, they can talk about their monsters, too.

Eventually, I'll pitch in and post some of my elite beasties spanning the series.

Come on, spill!

akanbe (kitty giraffe) died after beating S rank. I reset in hopes of seeing if it had a disease (since I read that some of the mews live near 4 years) and curing it, but there was no disease, and he appeared "healthy" and "full of energy!". he then lost S rank on a retry, and died.

BEETBOOD ate his heart, his soul.

BEETBOOD is a f'ing moron.

I managed to get some bear roller from shadow of the colossus. Havent gotten to play much due to some much needed art done with Wanderlust Online. Hes pretty strong and evenly balanced, and is in the rank above the starting one(i forgot the letter). Ill try and get more info up later. :)

I think Dave suggested I stick the "rocky" DVD in there, which produced this weird pink space fish that seems to be somewhat useful. At least it makes cool noises. I got a devil/sprite thingy that's pretty sweet, but I haven't messed around with her too much because she's got a bad attitude. :p I also found this goofy angry thing with some strange clawed limbs and a little pitchfork.

Prodigy's "fat of the land" album and Silent Hill 3 have monsters that are far too special for a loser like me to have yet... I am sad and unhappy...

If it dosen't arrive in another week or so, I'll send you another one.

Would anyone care to post the current/final stats of their current/recent monsters?

Hey, Paul, I thought you were gonna raise that one little guy. Did the Beaklon seduce you?

You beat the official B and A, so you've access to three new breeds: Pancho, Durahan and Dragon.

Ah, and Nixon, it appears you've discovered Pixie, one of the series' most well-known monsters. Pixies are crazy intelligent, even moreso than Suezo, and very fast. Their higher-level Int. attacks are very effective and/or accurate, plus it's one of the very few monsters with a healing ability.

Of course, Pixies are perhaps known best for their mischeviousness, as you've noticed. You'll have a hard time keeping it in line, but it'll love you for it and return the favor in battle. But watch out, because it's Lif. and Def. are generally very low. Pixies are oddly popular in tournaments.

As for the pitchfork guy, that's Gitan, one of the three breeds exclusive to the US MR3 (Japan got a powerful secret Dragon breed instead. Suckers.). They look like a handful, but they're not really all that difficult to raise, so long as you know what it's good at. While it's Int. appears to be it's statistical strength, it's Pow. attacks (at least in MR3) are better than it's Int. moves, so I'd recommend getting yourself a good balance. They're also another breed that falls into the "High speed, low defense" category, though it's Lif. isn't bad at all.

You won't find them in the tourneys, as they weren't in the Japanese version to begin with. That is, unless you release (retire) a Gitan, in which case one of your rivals could end up picking it up.

They're pretty cute, though, eh? "DYOOOOOOH~!"

What little guy? I chose the beaklon (scissors breed) after playing Rockman X3 (saturn) and seeing "Gravity Beetbood" appear on the screen. anyone who has been here for a while knows how much I love that retarded name. I was just overwhelmed with desire to make "BEETBOOD".

Hahaha, of course I know you love Beetbood!

But, I was refering to this. (http://www.legendcup.com/mr3encyclopedia/195afro.jpg)

Wanna breakdown of the pros and cons of the Beaklon species?

well, I learned that they can't dodge for ****, and they have horrible accuracy.

before I put MR3 on hold, I was trying to just power it up as much as possible, and have it die so I could give it's heart crystal thing to a better monster.

Panchos are locked monsters for a reason: They're very tricky to get the hang of, even for pros. They're designed to be Int-based tanks, you see. A little pre-planning is required to get it right.

The ones you encounter before the Great 5 are sorry excuses for Panchos.

Have you gained access to any new regions yet?

Valkysas

I was talking about the beaklon. BEETBOOD needs to hurry up and die. I've been extremely nice to him, but he fails everything about 30% of the time, is constantly tired, never wants to eat anything even remotely healthy for him, and he got he has yet to hit a single opponent in the A rank battles, even though his stats are far beyond Akanbe's, who obliterated everyone in the A rank.

and no, no new regions.

You don't compete in unofficial tourneys, do you?

You must if you want to gain access to new regions. They have bigger purses and yeild useful items, including the tech stones from the Free-For-Alls. The drills elsewhere are much more effective and intensive than in Morx. Morx is really only suitable for monsters in their early/near end life stages.

I see that your Beaklon needs some serious speed boosts. Speed influences it's accuracy directly. Focus on it's speed.

Valkysas
11-09-2005, 07:12 PM
it's speed is 420. he's just retarded.

RPGD
11-09-2005, 07:14 PM
That makes no sense. Perhaps one of it's characteristics influences that.

Do you remember any of it's other stats? Beaklon is supposed to be one of the more useful early stage "Pow & Def" monsters.

The problem probably lies in it's attacks. It's bit moves aren't good for the most part. Get Gululubang and Beattack. And if you can, Beakrocket (orb move). If Bood has Wind Wisdom/Secrets, give it Vibrato. Keep either Beaban or Horn Sweep.

Beattack: Aqua Stone

Gululubang: Flare Stone

Beakrocket: Aurora Orb

Vibrato: Aurora Stone

Then again, Beetbood may indeed be retarded.

intelligence was around 350, power was around 500, everything else was around 400. I can't remember what characteristics it had, although I'm sure "stupid ****" wasnt one of them.

Well done, Paul. Those are some nice stats. I can't imagine how it could be so clumsy.

If he's still stoppd when you get MR3 back, you can focus on just competing in unofficial tourneys to gain locale access or just power him up 'till his end days. You've got a great heart going; if you've got a high-level attack you use often, check it's bit type (Flare, Jade, Aurora, Aqua) and ensure the new monster has that attack type. It should max it out from the get-go, and learn a new move to boot.

Have you considered Hengers?

Nixon

I used Steel Battalion to get a blue golem. Says it's the only one not afraid of water? So far, he's kicked more ass than all my other monsters.

RPGD

Hengers are very powerful, versatile monsters, plus they're well-behaved and easy-going. They're great with both Int. and Pow., so you can go with either, though I'd recommend focusing on Int. and Spd. Keep it's Def. and Lif. high enough to keep it's gears turning.

It's got an awesome array of moves, too. Keep a look-out for it's Stone moves, particularly Remote Punch and Ion Cannon. Especially Ion Cannon; it's a gamewinner.

I feel it's time for me to contribute.

This should be fine for a start... here's one of my favorite MR3 monsters, Suzurin Isabella:

Isabella (Suzurin/Morx)

Lif: 532
Pow: 357
Int: 706
Spd: 641
Def: 677

This purebreed Suzurin is one of my earlier crystal monsters; My second monster since I restarted MR3 for the third time. This little baby helped me break away from my super-strict nature towards my monsters, a habit which I picked up from raising Suezos for so long. It was significant due to the fact that it's performance improved whenever I lightened up.

Isa was a darling to raise. She didn't give me any trouble, and was very obedient throughout her lifetime. I can't even count how many times she got "Great!" results during training. So, I rewarded her regularly, her chiming happily after a long day of destroying Dragons and Durahans. She's absolutely adorable! "Rin~!"

She's a very tough sweetheart. While she isn't as effective in battle as some of my beefier monsters, she gets the job done. When going up against friends, I like to warm them up by pitting them against lil' Isabella.

Anyway, now that I'm back in MR3, Metamax's heart crystal in hand, I'm gonna start raising a special hell-raiser... so to speak.

In other words, I'm gonna get busy with Joker.

While I haven't gotten in a lot of playtime this wee-kend, I managed to get a good start with my new monster, Amadeus Joker.

About Jokers, they're practically the monster equivalent of the grim reaper; Flowing black cloak, gigantic scythe, piercing, eyeless stare and a creepy, sinister smile adorning it's mask-like head are the most prominent characteristics of this monster, aside from it's lack of a body and ability to float.

Jokers are, simply put, brutal. They've an extremely violent and malevolent nature, as evidenced by their attacks, which are not only dead powerful and quite painful-looking, but accurate and spot-on. Jokers have an excellent balance of great Pow. and Int. attacks, and their Pow. and Int. stats themselves get equally high gains. It does, however, have a somewhat harder time keeping it's Def. high in contrast to it's other stats.

Jokers are extremely powerful monsters, yet they are very dangerous. Thus, they are out of the question for beginners. Only an experienced breeder can keep this guy's brutality in check. If you can show him who's boss, he'll slaughter anyone who gets in your way. Believe me, it helps to have a messenger of death as a partner.

:wily

My Joker, currently 11 months and C Rank, was given Metamax's beefsy heart, and is currently enjoying a streak of 5-second battles (when it can, as most monsters in the tournaments give up before I even get the chance to fight). It's been getting lots of Greats lately, so it's Int will likely be maxxed during it's lifetime.

Since it's stats were so high from the get-go, I was able to get the Flare Stone I needed from the Takrama Free-For-All, yeilding Dark Flame, it's current trump card.

Later on, I intend to give him Chaos Slash and perhaps Death Gate should I feel Orb-lucky.

I plan on making a little more progress with him before retiring, and as much as possible before getting absorbed by Mario Kart DS.

But, there's one thing that baffles me: Why the hell is Joker available from the start in MR4?! It boggles the mind!

Eh, why look a gift horse in the mouth?

Fear the scarlet symphony of Amadeus.
