    "materia"

How would you make something similar to materia?

Because it would be incredibly hard to do with RM1, and because it would be even harder to explain to someone who hasn't yet mastered any RPG Makers, your best bet is to...

    Well...

    This.

You could do a light system with some creative problem solving.

      For example, conditional branches:

IF "Fire Materia" is in inventory

      THEN

      ADD SKILL: Fire.

        Conditional Branches works wonders.
If 'Player name here' has (item name) equiped:
        > Add (elemental defense, damage, stat points and skills here)

I did that with a 'transformation' skill, where if you are in your 'Regular form' you can transform into a 'beast form' to move faster, and it only works outside of battles. You can use it in battles, but you must change before a battle takes place. But you get 'hurt' every minute or so when in the form, so people won't abuse it. Branches are awesome.

This is the RPG Maker workshop forum. We have them seperated by title. This is for RPG Maker on PS1, which does not have conditional branches. Thanks for trying to help, though.

EDIT: NEVERMIND I WAS BEING RETARDED THERE ARE EVENT CONDITION SETTINGS AND MULTIPLE PAGES TO EVENTS AND THIS IS TOTALLY DOABLE EVEN THOUGH IT WOULD BE SLOPPY AND REALLY AWKWARDLY ASSEMBLED HOW THE **** DID I NOT THINK ABOUT THAT I SHOULD BE OVERTHROWN AS WEBMASTER IMMEDIATELY, COME ON SIMPLE MAN.

I've only played 3 but not for long. So I don't know what they do and don't have. Sorry. I basically only know the OTHERS, and XP and VX. I got XP somewhere on a Flash drive.

It doesn't? Gosh, it's been forever.

Well, no, I was having a severe retard moment. It does, via switches and items (like keys).

Seriously, I was briefly a complete idiot.

                Jesus christ, somebody punch me.

I should not have trouble remembering stuff like this, I mean, I know I have bad memory problems, but damn, I live and breathe this god damn site.

I'll get RPG MAKER 1 somewhere, then make a Materia thing, and post my findings, then.
