Why not? Best RTS multiplayer experience since Starcraft and before Starcraft 2 (debatable), combined with best PC game company.
    ...and that's why.

Defense of the Ancients. AKA League of Legends. AKA a mod for Warcraft 3 that became instantly popular and had a strong mod community backing it up with constant updates and balance checks.

The only way I can explain it is Tower Defense meets Team Deathmatch meets RPG.

Or if you've ever played Future Cop: LAPD, it has a similar multiplayer game that pretty much sums it up:

Really the best way to understand it is to play it, and thankfully League of Legends is free and has a great tutorial.
        ...and that's why.

Wait, what? I thought League of Legends was one of those online card games.

I think that's Legends of Norrath, the Everquest card game.

DotA has been huge huge huge for years. It ws first made in 2003, and started being big a couple of years after that.

Someone needs to play the mama bird, and give John Mora a push out of the Pavilion nest. Or have his wings already been clipped?

Dunno where (Wikipedia or some gaming site, maybe), but I first read about this last year some time. Did not have a computer at the time, so it did not really interest me. But what DID interest me was that this mod is I guess considered to be the birth of the tower defense genre. Which is a genre that I've enjoyed quite a bit since I got my PS3.

Yeah, i dont know if it was the birth of the tower defense genre, but it was definitely a fore runner.

And seriously Mora, you had never heard of Dota? hell, i had heard of it. And you should DEFINITELY check out League of Legends. I havent played much recently because of FFXIv, but its pretty awesome!

I'm actually really happy about this, since they claim that it will be similar to regular DotA. I've tried LoL, and it's okay. I'm considering trying it again. But I've really like DotA from the first day I played it onward. I usually only play LAN with a group of 6-10 people though.

As long as my favorite heroes live on, I'll be happy.

                            Phantom Lancer/Bounty Hunter/Nerubian Assassin/Lina Inverse(Confirmed)/Treant Protector.

I don't like a few things they've mentioned though. Voicing for when you kill or deny creeps will get old fast.

And the use of steamworks makes me think of the TF2 steamworks which are kind of gay.

I know for a fact I'm not the only Pavilion regular who doesn't know what it is.
