Re: Mass Effect: The Movie
yeah. I wonder what kind of character they'll make Shepard. I think it's pretty safe to say he'll be a white man who acts very honorably lol cuz why take chancesOriginally posted by Kire View PostI demand a Renegade and a Paragon version in movie theatres simultaneously.

Re: Mass Effect: The Movie
And now the conundrum; on one hand, this could be good, and if it isn't, there's no reason it will lessen my enjoyment of the game. And on the other, the fact while this could be good, the atrocious game-to-film adaptation record says it probably won't be, and the wasting of such potential is just damn depressing. Most of the games to get the big screen treatment, it wasn't a big deal that their adaptation was balls. Either the film never had enough story to justify a movie in the first place (Mario, Doom) or the story was already terrible (Tomb Raider, Mortal Kombat). Resident Evil was a minor disappointment, although it was at least slightly entertaining in its own right. Max Payne was the only big issue to date, a movie with a tailor-made plot and interesting characters reduced to nothing of substance at all. This one threatens to end up in that category."Never underestimate the predictability of stupidity."

Re: Mass Effect: The Movie
It would only be good if they were able to craft a new story out of it, like what they did with the Firefly series.
I could definately see a Mass Effect movie where Shepard and his band of aliens do a huge side mission. I would pay money for something like that....and that's why.

Re: Mass Effect: The Movie
The Bioware boards have been ablaze with for a few weeks now(Since bioware originally hinted it).
Most people agree that the movie would have to cover the first contact war(aka Relay 316 incident), that story has been fleshed out very well in the novels. Plus, it minimizes the amount of Aliens that would be involved(Asari and Turians only).
And I'm damned if I do and I'm damned if I don't
So here's to drinks in the dark at the end of my road
And I'm ready to suffer and I'm ready to hope

Re: Mass Effect: The Movie
Keep in mind they can still do the ME 1 story and simply cut out some of the alien races. I'm not saying I find that preferable, just pointing out that this is Hollywood, no one tells them what they can or can't remove from the source material to make it more palatable, less expensive, or simply more generic. And with Sheperd being an unusually strong presence in the game for a RPG protagonist (due in no small part to him actually having a voice), I have to think they'll still have him as the focal point of the film, which would eliminate the turian war as a possibility.
Oh, and was the First Contact war mentioned a lot in the second novel? I read the first, admittedly a while ago, and don't remember much more than passing references."Never underestimate the predictability of stupidity."

Re: Mass Effect: The Movie
Except that in the end there isn't really a winner or loser in that war. They are not very likely to do a move focusing on a conflict which ends in a tie.
Besides, based on the one novel of the series I read, I don't have any strong desire to see much of them incorporated. It wasn't bad, but as far as sci-fi books go it was pretty pedestrian. Whether that was the subject material or the author, I can't say."Never underestimate the predictability of stupidity."
