Not entirely sure if this'll be a thing yet or not, but I saw thunder ripe for the stealin' and I went for it. Depending on the reception this gets, I may take it all the way~

So, let's journey back to Two-Hundred-Odd-One when Mora musk was a Mora-must and everyone was foolishly anticipating Square's The Bouncer...

here's the whole story behind that:

Originally, I created a similar intro sequence, where you explore Aloha, then Dave and Chris get sucked into a portal after playing with a remote, but the original story had them instead go to an alternate dimension where Eric was cool / Nihal was with Britney Spears / etc. Then Ben joined the team and they went on some crazy adventure to figure out how to get back to their reality and visited my genius friend who was into electronics (sorta like Jeff from Earthbound) who was going to fix the Remote, but he was going to screw up and they were going to keep going from dimension to dimension ...like Sliders, I guess... until they eventually got home. The game was pretty much an inside joke for me and my friends.

However, at one point the game got erased, thanks to some crappy free memory cards from EB Games (one of the first posts I made at the RPG Pavilion was about this -- http://rpgmakerpavilionboard.yuku.co...OTS-OF-IT.html -- the counter said "186 hours" but that was mostly cos I left my ps1 on 24/7). I did backup a rather old version of it, but all it had was Aloha and a bit of the intro.

So after x-amount of time brooding, I started anew, this time creating the arcade and fleshing out the intro quite a bit and made a demo. The intro wasn't exactly the final version but it ended at the part where David and Chris get sucked into the tv after playing with the remote. The plan was still the same, the "portal" was going to send them to an alternate dimension where everything was different, you would go visit other towns with other arcades, etc. I was going to put the demo on the RPG Pavilion, but since the EGM contest was going on, I decided not to give anyone ideas on minigames to steal and instead just sent it to Loki and Starba to get some feedback. The game didn't have a title yet, it was still called "Project X" or something like that.

I asked Starba what she thought of it and she told me "I know where this game is going" and started talking about how it was going to be just like the movie "Stay Tuned" -- Except, she didn't get the name right, she thought it was called "Remote Control". She described the movie to me and I thought to myself "actually, that plot is a lot better than the crap I was planning" and scrapped my crappy alternate dimension plan and instead had my hero-like-people get sucked into an episode of Xena. Once I finally figured out the movie was actually called "Stay Tuned" and not "Remote Control", I decided to name the game "Remote Control" cos, of course, that fit quite well. This is also why the intro screen appears where it does, since I hadn't named it until that point.

So the TL;DR version, Starba shaped the plot of my game along with the title. Hence in the ending thank yous, I said something along the lines of "Starba - you had more influence on the direction of my game than anyone else" or something like that.

Hey that's quite alright. Remote Control is an important piece of Paviliona that I wanted to reflect on.
