5: Battle Hunter (2001)
Basics of Battle Hunter: you and three others are warped on to a randomly generated grid and have to, tactics-style, slog through monsters and traps opening supply crates until you find the one that contains the key item, at which point you have to get to the exit to win. There are lots of fun twists to it though, like the cards and items you use to improve your characters.
This is a great multiplayer game, and if it was better translated, better balanced, and given a bit more of a unifed thread to follow (a more coherent 'co-op campaign') this would be a real winner.
4: Vandal Hearts II (1999)
Vandal Hearts II had a surprisingly good story and an interesting method of turn order (each side chooses one unit at a time, to move simultaneously with the other - meaning that the only way to be sure you'll hit someone is to wait for them to move). Unfortunately it was plagued by bad storytelling and non-predictive AI (how to instantly win in 1v1...walk backwards two squares, attack square ahead of you). A new version that explored this concept deeper and had the AI do the same, along with a story polish, would be one of the best SRPG's in a very long time.
3:Impossible Creatures (2002)
Impossible Creatures was a game where you combined animals into unique units that you used in the RTS-style game. Imagine impossible creatures with the creature editor replaced by something more like Spore's creature editor, only with stats that actually mattered beyond spores "1-5" system. Yeah. No other words needed.
2: Legend of Mana (2000)
Maybe these are just the nostalgia goggles talking, but this was like, THE co-op rpg of my childhood. (yes I know I am younger than all of you and you were a surly teen for this game olol) Hell, not too much even needs to be changed - just make the co-op element true co-op and not the half assed go in a church version, fix up some of the more broken/stupid levels, and we have a winner.
1: Kirby Air Ride (2003)
I wasn't sure about putting this here because it's pretty damn great already. When I say 'remake' I really mean, 'make the city bigger and make it online multiplayer on something I own, and I will never ever stop playing it.'
