    Game ideas

I have a lot of game ideas floating around in my head. These have been thought up without the limitations of any rpg maker to influence them. Maybe oneday when there is an easy to use game maker with limitless possibilities(I'm too lazy to learn programming), I'll come back to this thread and start bringing my ideas to life. Others should do this type of thread too, because I'd love to see your ideas.

    Title-Simple World
    Genre-Platformer
A simple platformer with three controls-move, jump, and attack. The game takes place in a forest which is on the wings of a giant butterfly. There's simple music, with harps, flutes, and pianos, and lush visuals. The purpose of the game is to collect things while looking for a way off the massive butterfly and to the world below. Based on a dream I had.

    Title-Expedition Earth
    Genre-adventure
There is one goal and one goal only for this game:explore! This is pretty much my dream game that I wish every night someone would create. The game has no story or characters, as you play a permanent 1st person view character. You can choose from a globe anywhere on earth to explore, and you will be whisked away to the place.

There is a system in the game very similar to Xbox's achievement system. When you reach certain parts of a map, indicated by a blue beam of light, you win that particular achievement. Unlock certain amounts of achievements to earn new powers. You can initially only walk around and jump. Eventually you will be able to swim, climb, and glide to reach new places. If you manage to unlock every achievement for the game, you will unlock flying mode

Since you will be exploring the whole world, there is every terrain possible in the game. Mountains, plateaus, cliffs, canyons, hills, grasslands, savannahs, forest, jungle, tundra, glacier, ocean, lake, cavern, rainforest, etc., etc., etc.

There will be a lot of wildlife in each area, but you cannot interact with them, as they are only there for scenery. Expect a lot of ambient music, as well as environmental stuff like birds chirping, all kinds of weather SFX.

Please, any developers out there!! Make this game and I'll be happy forever.

    Title-Darkmyth
    Genre-action/adventure
You take the role of Moon, an up and coming weaponist(able to use a variety of weapons) from a humble country village in Ancient Japan. Oneday, while wandering around the outlands, Moon comes across a boarded up cave. Curiosity gets the better of him, and he breaks his way in.

This is the first time you get to play. You can wander around the cave, killing a few bats and rats with your little wooden pole or katana. You can only jump, attack, and run, but all of that will change very soon...

Upon reaching the end of the cave, Moon finds an old Shinto statue of the goddess Amaterasu. It suddenly shines bright and he finds himself standing in the sky. He is surrounded by clouds and blue sky in all directions. A soothing female voice emanates all around him, telling him he is in the divine sky realm. He has been chosen by the fates to carry out her divine will.

He has a choice, she tells him. He can follow the path of shadows, or the path of light. This is where the game branches. Both paths have a unique storyline, learnable moves, weapons, and ending.

    -Path of light-
    Weapons
    katana, hammer, spear
    moves
    glide, waterwalk, extra exp

    -Path of shadows-
    Weapons
    scythe, claws, greatsword
    moves
    superjump, dash, extra money

    -Common-
    Weapons
    pole, dagger
    moves
    swim, jump, run, wallrun

Darkmyth will be a fast game! When you glide, you can control the speed of the glide, and can shoot upwards if you have good grasp on the controls. When you dash, expect to be 15 feet away in a split second. I want everything to be fast paced. Even if you are knocked down by an enemy, pressing a recovery button will launch Moon back up to his feet and you can dash back towards the enemy as soon as you touch the ground. Both weapons and your character level can be levelled up with experience, and they will change appearance everytime.

Thanks for perusing my wall of text. Comments?

I like the Expedition Earth idea. That would be interesting to play.

      Re: Game ideas

I have some design documents and concept art for several different products. Once I'm done with the military I was planning on founding my own company for making steam/psn/xbl games. Maybe even Wii titles but the size restriction puts me off.

My first series is a planned trilogy and each game has different gameplay elements.

Ascension: Climb the Ancient Tower for Your Heart's Desire
In a world dominated by European fantasy tropes, a dark god or something tried taking over. Confronted by a group of heroes, he was sealed away in a magic foo. Finding the nearest tower full of traps and monsters, the heroes placed the magic foo at the tallest floor. One hundred days later the heroes' story becomes a legend and would-be adventurers from across the world brave the tower to obtain the dark whatever's power and ascend to godhood.

Ascension is a sidescrolling action RPG where you take a character you build through 10 floors of a magic tower. Each floor is made of 5 rooms with the stairs leading up only accessible after finding a magic key in each room. The rooms themselves are randomly generated but the unique aspect is that the player can change the dungeon ecology. At the beginning of each floor the player is given magic tokens which he places in a mechanism that determines the properties of each floor. The tokens themselves can interact with each other leading to unexpected changes. For example, placing a 'dark elf' token and a 'spider' token in the same room would create a level with driders (half-spider half-dark elf). Tokens can be removed and the levels regenerated if they're not to your liking but you lose the keys you had gained to reach the next floor.

The rest of the game is similar to the Metroidvania style of gameplay. You've got an hp and mp counter, a bevy of weapons, magic, special abilities and the fun comes in experimenting with new level designs.

      Pretender

Sequel to Ascension. You find the magic foo and ascend to god hood. As a pretender god you must compete against other pretenders in order to gain access to the holy pantheon. Pretender is a turn-based strategy game with one goal: get as many people to worship you as possible.

This is accomplished by spreading your influence. Bringing rain to dry fields, driving people to fanaticism, conquering far away lands and establishing your church among them, torching cities, sacrificing your avatar to be a martyr to the people, commanding your avatar to slaughter in your name, etc. Other gods are competing against you and won't hesitate to torch your churches. For every pretender you destroy (converting all their believers or becoming powerful enough to assimilate with them) you gain their powers and influence.

The games world will be randomly generated with hexagonal tiles similar to Settlers of Catan. On each tile would be a special property like 'gold mine' or 'city'. There'll be multiplayer, likely free-for-all and cooperative play as well as some special modes like Crusades (be the first to invade another country in the name of yourself!), Protect the Holy Land (defend against a team of other pretenders trying to take your land), and Hostile Takeover (spread your influence without the aid of godly miracles).

      Fight for the Earth!

Third game in the series. You've become a greater deity since being a pretender god and now the apocalypse has come. Your worshippers have forsaken you. The world is in ruin, demons are rising from the earth and to save the world you must destroy it!

This game is a top-down free roaming shoot-em up. As the angel of death you must destroy those that curse your name while saving the true believers. Each map will have enemies to destroy and believers to save. Since you're immortal you can't die but losing a certain percentage of believers will result in your spirit being expelled back to heaven.

As an angel you can't directly damage mortals. Instead your power comes through the environment. You can reroute missiles, cause tanks to fire on each other, send lightning to strike the earth, spread fire across the ground and destroy dams to flood blasphemous cities. You have to be careful not to harm your believers, though!

I haven't decided if this game will have multiplayer. I think it'd be cool if one player plays the angel while the other controls a rival angel (or even a human army) that tries to destroy all the believers.

I feel like you used this joke in the Pavilion Adventures, though I don't know why I remember that.

I take issue with this, marcus. You and I continually b**** and moan about the state of the gaming industry, yet you are talking about making a dev studio, and refer to them as "products," not games. For shame!

I've come to face the music that if I work in the industry I'm going to hate the end product. Might as well subscribe to the Activision method of game making by taking away all the fun aspects of it.

It has to have elevator music and a cute bee mascot with a double entendre sexual fetish for "polinating" your plants.

Get Japan on the phone, I think we have a game here!

Already had an idea similar to this I was originally gonna make with RPGM3, but once I get a PC and the full version of IG Maker, it'll be made on that.

See, even SALES ASSOCIATE could be a good game if it was executed well.

Game idea topics are meaningless. MEANINGLESS.
