Let's Play is a concept I've always wanted to bring to the Pavilion, as it's always seemed like a neat forum thing.
For those not acquainted with the idea, it's just posting screenshots and/or video of a game, from start to finish, usually with commentary. Maybe that sounds boring, but I like to think everyone in their lives has enjoyed watching a friend just play through a game, giving commentary and suggestions. RPGs are popular for Let's Play, as they are usually more story driven and interesting to simply watch than other genres.
Many people never owned a Sega Genesis, so I figured I'd do a Let's Play for one of the more obscure (but good) titles. I'm going to do a complete video runthrough, and post it on youtube and dailymotion.
I've boiled it down to 2 choices: Crusader of Centy, and the Sega version of Shadowrun. I'll let you vote on which you'd like me to play through.
Crusader of Centy is an overhead action RPG published by Atlus in 1994. It centers on a boy who has just turned 14 and inherits his father's sword. Through mysterious circumstances, he loses his ability to speak to humans in exchange for the ability to speak with animals.

The story follows the boy in his quest to both gain back the ability to speak to humans, and vanquish the monsters that have spread across the land. The problem is, he is challenged by the idea that maybe the hostilities between humans and monsters are not what they seem. There are also a number of curious references to the Bible.

You could call it a simple Zelda clone, and you wouldn't be far from the truth. Instead of items, though, the boy befriends animals who help him by imbuing his sword with different abilities. Furthermore, you can combine two abilities to create unique combinations. The game is shorter than any Zelda, but that helps to keep it interesting!
It has a soft spot in my heart for the goofy graphics, neat puzzles, interesting animal combinations, lighthearted music, and a story that actually tries something a little different.
Shadowrun (Genesis/MegaDrive version)

Shadowrun is another overhead action RPG, based on the tabletop RPG of the same name. When the shadowrunner (covert mercenary) Michael is killed in a botched mission, it's up to his brother, Joshua, to head to Seattle, find out what went wrong and seek revenge.

The Shadowrun universe is one heavily inspired by the cyberpunk style created and popularized by the novel "Neuromancer", and the fantasy of pretty much everything in D&D. Corporations sabotage each other for control of the ruined United States in a future where guns and cyberspace coexist with magic and mysticism.
Basically, imagine if a bunch of nerds sat down and watched Blade Runner, and after it was over they said "That was great but it needs DRAGONS."

Joshua can choose to be a street samurai, Matrix (cyberspace) hacker, or a shaman, and can also team up with 2 other shadowrunners to make up for the weaknesses of his class. Gameplay consists of following clues, running missions for money, and wandering around the oppressive and occasionally hostile city streets.

The Genesis version is much different from its SNES counterpart, as the Sega version has much more of a sandbox style. It's got fun gameplay, good characters and story, and just a really cool atmosphere and setting. It also has more opportunity for suggestions and audience input than Crusader.
So there you have it. I'll run the poll until sometime next week, where I'll start my first Let's Play. Even if you don't want to watch me play, just vote on which one you'd possibly find more interesting!
