    Track Wolf Not Tray Cee Wolf

    It's actually flowchart backwards

    Long story for another day I suppose

    Anyway, I just got RPG Maker 3 yesterday, and I love it.
    Only have a few problems.

    I started by playing the BraveHeart tutorial, and tried to save progress. Found I had to save data before playing??
    Glad I also purchased a new PS2 card! (Whew!)

    Played a while, tried to save again, and was informed I could not. Not sure f this is a glitch on the cd or not.
    (Just bought the new PS2 unit as well, so it is probably not the PS2's fault)

    While I pondered those errors, I logged on here to read in amazement that people are still enjoying this game. (Yay!)
    And making new games (double yay!) for it. I wish I could try the winning submissions but have no idea where to download them. No easy link on the front page showing neanderthals such as me where o get the files.

    My PS2 setup has Action Replay, not Maxdrive or Dexdrive, so if I ever do learn how to download the files, how do I convert them?

    Sorry to flood you with so many questions, but I am very eager to get working with this wonderful program!

    Any constructive feedback is welcomed.

    Yay! A newbie with a firm grasp on the English language, who seems to NOT be a neanderthal!


    As for Action Replay, I'm not sure if regular Action Replay works, or if you need the program called Action Replay Max, but I'm pretty sure if you put a flash drive in the USB port in the front of the PS2, and load it up with RPGM3 games, the regular AR SHOULD have the capability to transfer the files to a PS2 memory card.

    As for where to find other users' files, on the main RPG Maker Pavilion page (click the banner logo at the top of this page to get back there), there are links to RPGM3 full games and demos, about halfway down the page on the left side. The new contest games, which I just submitted the judging for a few weeks ago now, should be in these forums under "submissions" until they are put on the main page.


    As for Dear Brave Heart, for some dumb reason, you need to actually save that entire game on a memory card beforre you are allowed to save it. Honestly, it's really not worth playing and/or saving anyway. Just keep in mind that only 3 RPGM3 files will fit on a single 8MB PS2 memory card. When I was still using my PS2 for RPGM3 (I now use my PS3), I dedicated one card to other users' games I downloaded, and about 6 cards for my own projects.


    And finally, in order to play other peoples' games, you need to download them...click on "full games" (as an example), find the game you want, click the link for discussion, and at the bottom of the first post, there is a link for the download. You need to do this on PC, obviously, and then you need to unzip the folder, drop the file onto the flash drive, and then use Action Replay to transfer it to memory card. There is a link on the front page, I think, discussing how to do all of this, but my PS3 cannot copy and paste, so I just typed it all out.

      Thanks for the welcomes, and the acknowledgment of being a non-retard. (Although my kids would disagree, since I play video games as much as they do)
      I am awestruck by the speed of your replies, and love the avatars!
      Hopefully my future queries will not be as inane.

      Yet...

      Under RPG3, would it be possible to add a link to "Game Winners" ?
      Maybe I was too worn ut last night to notice it, but when I clicked on "Games" under RPG3 I do not recall seeing Wavelength's submission.

          The winners of the most recent contest (I hope you read and enjoyed my reviews, btw ) have not been added to the main site yet. If you are in the discussion forum, they should still be able to be found under the submissions forum, with a link at the bottom of the post to download.


          I might submit my own minigame thing today...I've been needing to for a while, but when I switched out PS3 HDDs, I lost a bunch of RPGM work. Meh.


          EDIT: I remember reading in Wavelength's own forum that he has not submitted his file to the site yet...you need to PM him, and he will send you a copy of the file via email.

                  Hey Trackwolf/Flowchart, great to have you at the Pav! As you can see, there is much rejoicing when cool, mature people are added to our community. No pressure.

                  Thanks so much for the interest in Hell's Dining Room!! It really means a lot to me. I haven't officially submitted it yet because I wanted to polish it up and incorporate peoples' suggestions. However, I am happy to send the version I submitted to the Contest, to anyone who would like it. We can do it through email or AIM or YIM; just send me a private message if you're interested. If you'd rather wait for the official release, I plan to have that available in 1-4 weeks.

                  Normally, you'll find files in the "Games" and "Demos" links on the left hand bar of the main Pavilion page (http://www.rpgmpavilion.com/), or in the Submissions forum if the game was submitted recently. The major exception is for the Field of Dreams contest, which was about making great, playable World Maps rather than full games. I believe those files were posted in a zip folder directly on the Contests page. In case you're not aware, you'll need a MAX Drive or an AR Max in order to transfer files from your PC to your PS2.

                  The other strong RPG Maker Communities out there are the RPG Maker Magazine (our less snarky "sister site," if you will) and Doan's Domain (which has some great resources for RPGM2), if you're interested.

                    Again, welcome, and if you like flowcharts, there's a pretty decent band called Flowchart. They started out being kinda a Stereolab ripoff, but they discovered their own sound a few albums in.

                          More boring than fact

                          trahcwolf was borne out of boredom and writer's block
                          Back in the stone age when trash 80's (TRS-80 Color Computer, the CoCo, made by Radio Shack) were semi-popular, there was a magazine called The Rainbow
                          The TRS80 boasted a whopping 16k memory. (Yup!)
                          I upgraded mine to a staggering 64k and submitted some of my ideas to their various contests.
                          One of my creations was an adventure game, all text of course, similar to the original Zork. (Yeh, I'm that old...and some of the games we played were on cassette tapes!)
                          In the game, I was looking for an appropriate name for the bad guy. Looking around, I noticed one of my books had been put back on its shelf backwards, a beginner's guide to flowcharts.
                          The rest is forgotten history.

                              I have an Xbox (heavily modified) and a PS2. No plans to upgrade anything in the foreseeable future.
