Re: Puzzle Quest: Galactrix
Geez, Gloomy...anything to do with anime, you always seem to be closeminded. "Too animu. Too chibi. Too Japanese for an American game. Too American for a Japanese game..." Oh, wait...scratch that last one, seeing as how Monster Hunter is your holy grail.
Just try to accept the fact that Puzzle Quest is a lot of fun, regardless of the anime window dressing. I preordered Galactrix today, actually, for the DS. I can't wait.

Re: Puzzle Quest: Galactrix
I was about to beat him, then he pulled off some 30269 move combo that drained all my energy, filled his to the top in all three bars, and gave him another turn.
Then I stopped playing.Last edited by Ryner; 01-20-2009, 07:46 PM.Ryner's Games

Re: Puzzle Quest: Galactrix
Yeah, I lost several times because the way the game behaved didn't really make sense to me. How am I supposed to plan moves if I have no idea which directions blocks are gonna shift? It seemed like the computer not only knew that, but knew exactly what blocks would shift into place after that to form ridiculous combos.

Re: Puzzle Quest: Galactrix
For me the trick to winning was to keep matching blues to replenish my shield and hit the Trident Laser every chance I got.

2 for 2! :
He kicked my butt on attempt three though.

Re: Puzzle Quest: Galactrix
Got the DS version yesterday, and began playing this morning. It's a bit slow so far, in terms of ramping up stats, abilities, new ship parts, etc, but I am enjoying it.
Only thing I didn't like is only having a choice at the outset of one character, male or female (I chose female, of course). Meaning, no choices for different character models (the female character looks like she's got a slight moustache) or different "classes," which means no customization off the bat. But I can live with it.
And Gloomy, the character models are Western-looking, so you have no excuse not to try this.
